With over 10 years of practice in the field of dentistry, Dr. Nawar Touchan graduated from the University of Montreal's Dental Medicine program in 2006. He then pursued a General Practice Residency in Detroit at the prestigious John D. Dingell VA Medical Center where he provided advanced restorative treatments to American war veterans.
The word "periodontal" literally means "around the tooth". Periodontal disease (also known as "gum disease, " "pyorrhea" or "periodontal infection") is an ongoing bacterial infection in the gums and bone around your teeth. This infection leads to an inflammation under the gums, and if not treated, this inflammation can destroy the bone around your teeth.
75% of all adult tooth loss is due to periodontal disease. When your gums and bone are damaged by periodontal infection, there is less support for your teeth. Periodontal Associates is a very professional organization. I am having an implant done over these trying times (COVID-19) and the staff at the clinic have been extremely helpful and courteous with the entire process. I find Dr. Touchan to be very professional, friendly and reassuring. The implant/bone graft procedure has been an easy process from my point of view, although it is much more involved for the doctor and his team.
I would not hesitate to recommend Periodontal Associates.

I was able to get an urgent appointment for consultation and booking for surgery. The staff answered all of my questions thoroughly (I had lots!) and were very professional. They make sure to give you their professional opinion while also listening to your preferences. Overall I was very happy with the service I received here. Parking in the back is a plus!

The Periodontal Associates in Sandy Hill was a wonderful experience. Dr. Touchan is very personable and professional. I asked him many questions about my implant/bone graft procedure and he answered every one of my concerns, which put me at ease during the procedure.
The front staff - especially Lynne - were very accommodating and did everything they could to assist me, particularly with the my insurance claim.
The work is complete now, but I would not hesitate to return for other procedures. thanks guys!!
