Terrace Lodge is located in the village of Putre, about 3.500m above sea level. This little town is the capital of the province of Arica and Parinacota and marks the entrance to the National Park Lauca, a globally recognized biosphere reserve. With its beautiful garden and privileged views over the snowy mountain peaks surrounding the village, the hotel offers a mystical yet quiet ambience.

Located at 3.500m above sea level in the village of Putre, Terrace Lodge has proven to be a place of tranquility within the majestic scenery of the Chilean Highland. It is a unique and privileged place in midst of the Precordillera of the Andes mountains. Putre is a small Chilean community, capital of the region of Arica and Parinacota.
Terrace Lodge offers private excursions with specialized guides. The hotel has its own 44 vehicles, allowing for a variety of tours within the Chilean Altiplano and the National Park Lauca, for example to the Salt Lake Surire, the Canyon of Allane or the Suriplaza Mountain. When you visit Putre, you will notice that many agencies, stores, accommodations and restaurants only receive cash. In Putre, there is only one cash machine. This is why we recommend to bring enough cash for your trip. You can pick up money in advance in Arica, for example in the city or at the airport.

We booked a tour here and it was great. It was only us two and our multi-lingual guide, who was super nice. He took us to places we didn’t even know existed i in Parque National Lauca, let us take our time and provided really interesting information. We got to get up close to (and feed) a couple of alpacas, and it should be mentiones that they weren’t locked in or something, he was just kind of friends with them. Furthermore we got to get really close to both colonies of vizcachas (he knew were these colonies were just at the side of the road) and to large herds of vicuñas, and these are just

We stayed at the lodge for two nights to visit the Lauca national park.
The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable, and thanks to the lodge's backup power generation and water supply we could have hot water and electricity also during the frequent blackouts and outages affecting the rest of Putre. Breakfast is also good, with real italian coffee.
Flavio, the host, was very helpful, also arranging for us the tour to the Lauca, and giving us plenty of information on the region, on the animals and plants of the Lauca, and on how to cope with the altitude.
