Haus Treuburg Country Inn and Cottages is located in Port Hood, by the sea, a scenic rural fishing village, on the Ceilidh Trail invites you to enjoy sandy beaches, the warmest waters in eastern Canada. We had to change our "German Sunday Morning Breakfast", but breakfast is served every morning, although not included in the cottage rate.
Three Cottages are nicely positioned on a spacious property between the heritage house and the beach. We invite you to leave your footprints on our private beach. Elisabeth's Hunting Cottage is not on our property but is in close proximity. All cottages have a beautiful view of Port Hood Island. You will be in awe of the breathtaking sunset.

While a beautiful property my husband and I stayed a night with our daughters, 18 and 10, and rented the one bedroom cottage that also had a pullout sofa bed. It was equipped with 4 of everything, towels, cutlery, bedding etc but we were told our children were not allowed to stay with us in the cottage. I still can’t get over that...not even for an extra fee per person. Anyway, the kids had to stay in a room in the big house for an extra $100+ that night, we were all very uncomfortable with the set up, but everywhere else was sold out and we needed a room so we went with it. Total gouging, I’d

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in the Berlin room for two nights the end of July. The Inn is very clean. Georg and Elvi are excellent hosts and Georg is a fantastic cook. We enjoyed the four course beef stroganoff meal which was served by Georg's lovely wife Elvi who made our meal special. We also had our breakfast there both mornings which was awesome. We usually go to Cape Breton once a year and this is now our favorite place to stay. We will defiantly stay there when we go back hopefully next year.

Amazing stay! Breakfast was impeccable, healthy & fresh. (To the reviewer who states they served them stale bread- they’re probably the type of people who buy white wonderbread and don’t understand there are MANY different delicious kinds of bread in the world!) Hosts were kind, sweet, and clearly knew what they were doing. We stayed in cottage #1 which was SO perfectly clean! (cleanliness is a huge factor in rentals to me) I couldn’t find a speck of dust in that place! Window sills, everything! I cannot day enough about our stay. Ignore the very few negative reviews here, as I can only assume

If you are a solo traveler, couple or small family that want a quiet place to get away from it all, then Haus Treuburg should be the perfect spot for you. We stayed in one of the cottages for 2 days and if I could plan the trip again I would have stayed much longer. Every detail was accounted for which is quite exceptional in itself on "the island". The clean, simple, & light coastal aesthetic of the wonderful little cottage was in perfect harmony with the tranquil coastline and private beach that embrace the cottages. Sunsets, flowing curtains in the breeze, and the rhythmic sounds of the waves

Property down to the beach is spectacular...beyond that, I cannot acclaim anything to this establishment. We did not feel welcomed (more accurately like just another couple to pay for a night's stay). Hubby thought the whole house smelled musty. We seem so be a bother to be asking for boiling water for a cup of (our own) tea at 7:30 at night. They did give a recommendation for a place to grab dinner (post to follow for that wonder pub!). I could spend time with negatives about this B&B...or rather just the first B...you have to pay another$20/person for breakfast, which we did not...let's just
