Depression is different than feeling temporarily sad or unhappy. Instead, depression leaves you feeling unmotivated, overwhelmed, tired and hopeless for an extended period of time (at least two weeks). Additionally, it can decrease your enjoyment of, or excitement for things that used to make you happy.
Anxiety can be a very distressing experience that can significantly disrupt one's quality of life. Often the triggers can be complex and for some harder to pinpoint which can perpetuate the distress. If you find yourself constantly worrying about the future, stressing about the opinions of others, feeling overwhelmed about making wrong decisions, and/or stricken with panic or fear, you might be dealing with anxiety.
