When you want glasses or to get contacts, you want a one stop shop. Well, Dr. Ryan is an awesome and very knowledgeable doctor who will give you your best case scenario. Im very happy to have avoided a situation I didn’t want and now I’m getting contacts instead. Stacey and the others are spot on too. I’ll be back!

Dr. Magyar and star were wonderful when performing an exam on myself and my then 1 year old. My daughter doesn't like things in her face, but she let Dr. Magyar look in her eyes with no fuss. I will be bringing my newborn there to have her eyes assessed in the future! 5 star service.

WILL OVER CHARGE!!! Shirley at front gave me a price to get me in the door an then over charged exam by double plus extras.. Then tried to overcharge for contacts which didnt match price over phone.
- DO NOT GO HERE, you can get identical professional service elsewhere, half there overcharge price.
- They will SNEAK in hidden charges to add into a general exam.
- They will give a price on phone for glasses an contacts an then DOUBLE hoping you dont notice through your COVERAGE.

My first visit to Focal Point. I liked Dr. Magyar. Personable. Efficient. Knowledgeable. Thorough. I'm going back.

Husband developed an eye issue suddenly.
From the moment I called they were super helpful.
Doctor was very helpful and friendly.

My experience with Focal Point Optometry has been outstanding. Professional, respectful, accommodating and friendly. I had a burst blood vessel in one eye. With no appointment I walked in as a first time customer and my eye was seen to in an hour. While I was there and because I received such awesome service I decided to make an eye exam appointment too. And surprisingly got one within two days. Obviously I highly recommend Dr. Ryan Magyar and his team.

My appointment with Dr. Magyar was fantastic! He is very clear explaining options and preferences. I felt listened to and walked away with exactly what i needed. His staff are outstanding; efficient, thoughtful, experienced and helpful without being pushy in any way. And to top it off my exam and two pairs of glasses were very reasonable. Dr. Ryan Magyar came highly recommended and hasn't disappointed. I’ve now been to Focal Point for a new glasses prescription and frames, and for the first time, for contacts (lens fitting and adjustments). My wife also got her very first pair of glasses here! Every time I’ve found the staff to be attentive, informative, and genuinely happy. The store itself is very clean and bright with a great selection. I make the trip up to Qualicum from Nanaimo and it’s 100% worth it!

I went to Dr. Magyar for the first time this year. Staff was friendly and professional. I had to purchase my glasses elsewhere as they didn't have any frames suitable for me.
My main problem was my prescription was made not as strong for my bifocals which is the first time in over 60 years that has happened. I assure you my eyes are not getting better. Now I am stuck with very expensive lenses that make it difficult to read and now have to wear my old glasses when doing some tasks.
When I called to mention this the woman was somewhat defensive and tried to push the blame on where I got my glasses

Dr. Magyar, Carrie and Rachel are an amazing team. They are each, kind, genuine, caring professionals. I will be forever thankful to them for helping me find a solution to my life-long battle with poor vision, which was a referral to Dr. Blaylock of the Valley Laser Eye Centre. Through Dr. Magyar and his team's work, I was able to quickly get an appointment to see Dr. Blaylock and, ultimately, receive Refractive Lens Exchange surgery on both eyes which has taken me from nearly legal blindness to exceptional sight where I only need light reading glasses for work while being able to see a logo on

I am from out of province and had to find an optometrist. My glasses broke, not really repairable and since it has been a very long time since I had my eyes checked I needed to have this done before ordering new glasses. Dr Magyar, Nickie and Kerry were so helpful. They were able to book me in on short notice. I was impressed by the thoroughness of… the eye exam. Choosing a frame was difficult as there were so many nice ones from which to choose. Nickie was very patient and supportive during my decision making process. They even helped make a temporary fix of my old glasses with no charge

I am a sales rep and Dr. Magyar's clinic is one of my accounts so a bit of a different experience but they are one of my favorite accounts! Dr. Magyar, Ilona and the staff are always such a pleasure to deal with. They have a great selection of frames and not just the ones I sell them ;). I also love how Dr. Magyar is such a creative person as well. He made his awesome reception table by hand and the cool shelves in the office as well.
