Words cannot express how grateful we are to the Toronto swing dance scene for welcoming us, accepting us, and dancing with us for the past 20 years. From humble beginnings and a glorious era with Mandi and Dan, to our most recent wave of dancing Bee-Keepers at the helm, the faces have changed but the spirit remains the same.
The memories we have made, from dancing on some of the biggest stages to stomping in some of the smallest studios, will be forever cherished. We sincerely hope you will all continue to love and cherish this dance, its history, and its local (and international) scene in the days to come. Toronto still has a lot to offer, both with its rich assembly of jazz musicians and its unique and talented dancers and instructors.

Named for the popular 1920s slang, Bees' Knees Dance strives to embody the impressive standard from which our moniker was derived. The compliment was often bestowed on those deemed terrific dancers and we believe the expression can apply to absolutely anyone. Founded in 1999 by notable Toronto dancer Mandi Gould, Bees' Knees Dance is now thriving under an enthusiastic collective of the studio's instructors.
All participants must rotate partners in our classes; if you would prefer to learn without rotating partners please seek out private lessons. Do not discuss with your partner while instructors speaking - you may miss them addressing the very issue you are having. Arrive on time; students who arrive late may be asked to wait to join the class at an appropriate time as to not disrupt the flow of the class.
Swing dancing is joyful, free spirited and infectious! Our classes include both social and solo styles of the 1920s to the 1950s though no partner is required to begin dancing. We rotate during the partnered classes so that you'll have a chance to meet and dance with many different people and experiment within a playful lead/follow connection.
Swing dances are social dances, meaning they are to be enjoyed out in the wild. Get into the spirit of swing by going out, meeting fabulous people, and putting your steps into practice! Every Saturday night, dancers flock to the Dovercourt House for the popular Saturday Night Swing! This central staple of Toronto's swing scene is presented by Swing Toronto and features a great line-up of live swing bands!
Toronto Lindy Hop is a non-profit/community organization dedicated to improving and enriching the swing dancing experience in Toronto.
