Warm compresses applied directly to the eyelid margins to help loosen the debris on the lashes. Thorough eyelid cleansing with LID-CARE Towelettes or Baby Shampoo / Mild Shampoo on a clean face cloth to help remove debris, crust and toxic products from the eyelid margin. Application of ocular lubricants may also be used to relieve any symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome.
Adjust your work space. Position your monitor 16 to 30 inches from your eyes with the top of the screen at eye level where you can look slightly down at your work. Eliminate reflected glare on your screen from surrounding lights. If you spend the majority of your time at a computer, glasses or contact lenses designed to focus correctly on your computer screen may help.
Special dietary supplements may be recommended, to slow the progression of macular degeneration (Dry AMD). Your optometrist may give you a grid pattern (Amsler grid) for regular home monitoring, to detect any distortions or dim areas in your vision which may indicate progression of the disease. If changes occur you should see your optometrist.
