Services
Pastry filled with Potatoes & peas or ground beef & peas, with herbs & spices serve with chutney. Diced cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers & carrots marinated with lemon & home-made spices. Homemade fried dough wafers(Papri) layered with a mix of chickpeas, potatoes, topped with sweet yogurt and our sweet chutneys, garnished with sev and coriander.
A combination of fresh spinach and your choice of fresh Indian cheese or potatoes cooked to perfection with homemade ground spices. Fresh Peas and your choice of Indian cheese or potatoes cooked with exotic Indian spices in cashew nut gravy with ginger, garlic onions and tomatoes. Diced Mushrooms cooked in cashew nut puree, roasted spices, with onions and tomatoes curry, finished with cilantro.
An Awadhi delicacy of boneless meat simmered with cashew nuts gravy & almonds flavored with nutmeg and saffron. Boneless meat produced from a wide but balanced range of spices made in a famous traditional "curry" sauce. Meat cooked with curry leaf, mustard seed, hot chillies and coconut milk with garlic onions and tomatoes.

Ordered butter chicken, saag paneer, dal makhani,pakoras and saffron rice. Pakoras had a powdery texture possibly from poor mixing of the chickpea flour. Butter chicken was made with a mainly tomato paste; more Italian than East Indian and not good in any case. Saag paneer smelled good but was barely passable possibly not good quality frozen spinach. Saffron rice was only saffron coloured, no actual saffron, possibly low quality cumin and no cardamom; not tasty. The dal makhani was the only really edible dish. Give this one a pass and try another place.

We are new to Cochrane went to Mehtab on a recommendation. I lived in Vancouver for 4 years & this was better than any East Indian restaurant I had tried there. And I ate a lot of it.😁
Don’t hesitate to try them, you won’t be disappointed. And bring an appetite…their portions are generous.👍🏼
They deserve special recommendation due to their generosity & community support as well. On their door there was a sign welcoming anyone, including those who could not afford to eat. ♥️

Best Indian restaurant in Calgary- Cochrane region😇 chicken Madras super tender and lamb has been the best as always. Stuffed naan really awesome. If I can give any suggestion would be have small container box instead of lunch box for packing up the leftover curry. In a word this place gonna be the reason I’ll drive to Cochrane after work then drive back home.

I don’t normally write reviews but after the amazing experience we had Friday night, I absolutely wanted to.
Someone from Calgary recommended Mehtab saying it was excellent if we were interested in eating authentic East Indian cuisine. As soon as we arrived in the restaurant, we felt welcomed. The dishes that were suggested to us were scrumptious!! We love coconut so we had coconut rice, chicken madras & Madras coconut vegetables! Wow, each dish was infused with amazing flavours! We have just moved to Cochrane and are quite pleased that this restaurant was recommended to us! Looking forward

We certainly enjoyed our “take away” dinner from them; the service was quick; the restaurant, even though was shut down due to Covid, was well set up for social distancing and pick up. Their Butter Chicken was spectacular — it is no wonder they have won awards for it! The Veggie Samosa and sauce were great and the Coconut Rice was over the top! Probably the best we have ever had! We will be back in Cochrane in the fall and we will certainly enjoy their food again.

This is my second visit to Mehtab. Great service and awesome food. Had butter chicken on first visit and it was the best I had in years. Giving 4 star only because the chicken was on the tougher side on my second visit. However I would still recommend this place to anyone who is interested to enjoy authentic Indian food.
Third & Fourth visit update: Food was not so great. It seems to be lacking in flavour compared to my first visit and quality is slowly coming down. Three star!
