We think you will agree that "Khao San" is a very fitting name for our new Thai restaurant. In the Thai language the words mean milled rice. To us, as Thai people, rice is more than just our staple food; it is an important part of a rich cultural heritage that goes back hundreds of years.
Rice is prepared and served in Thai homes every day as an accompaniment to virtually all Thai meals; from the simple to the exotic, from the hot and spicy to the mild and aromatic, and even as an ingredient in many Thai desserts. At Khao San Thai Kitchen, you'll discover an authentic Thai restaurant where Khao San (rice!) is just one of the items on a menu that contains a wide selection of authentic Thai dishes.

Really enjoyed all the dishes, started with papaya salad, and shrimp salad rolls which were both great! And then had shrimp in ginger sauce and deep fried fish, both were very nice, only set back for me was the sauce for the fish was the sweet Thai sauce which didn't do it for me, if they had something more authentic. But overall, a very pleasant experience and would come back for sure to try other dishes.

One of the Best Thai restaurants in Calgary!!! Pleasant, cozy and comfortable atmosphere with a small outdoor patio. The food is absolutely delicious. Very well prepared and there is always a lineup at dinner hours so be sure to get there early or better still not at their busy time. I order takeout and delivery I love it so much! A must try!!!

Had the best dinner here tonight! We walked in about 5:45pm asking if they had room for two. The restaurant was completely empty, but the man (we assumed to be the owner maybe?) pulled out the reservation book and showed us that they had reservations coming up at 6:00pm and 6:30pm so there wouldn't be room for us. He was so apologetic about this and offered different solutions.
We decided to make a reservation for 7:45pm and come back later, but ordered a Thai tea to go. He brings us the Thai tea and as we go to pay, he waves us off and says "don't worry about it so sorry you have

More like 4.5
Not sure why we didn't stumble upon this restaurant earlier. It has been here for 7 years.
Food is really well prepared. We had the tofu appetizer, bass fish fried withe spicy sauce, ribs with m? Sauce, and green curry veggies. Plus coconut rice on the side.
The bass was light and not super oily for fried fish. A winner.
The ribs on M ? Sauce was tender and flavourful sauce. The green curry with veggies was nice also as owner substituted more veggies instead of tofu as we already had tofu as an appetizer.
Owner was real friendly and professional too.
Highly recommend

Best Thai food without a doubt! Saw this in yelp and my curiosity dragged in, and oh my what a good choice. For appetizers I got point chin-poo and Moo-Ping. Also a mild spicy Tom Kha soup( the coconut milk makes the soup so delicious). Afterwards I ordered the yellow curry, pad Thai( a classic), Pa-name curry, and the best one being Prawn Pad Pong Ka-ree! Ending this dinner with a sticky mango. Overall with the service and the dishes this place is 100% worth trying.

My favorite restaurant from my vacation! The restaurant was very nicely decorated and had a wonderful ambience. The servers were friendly and the service was fast, but most importantly the food was spectacular. The curry was probably some of the best that I've ever had, and the other dishes were delicious as well. I definitely hope to go back here sometime!

Good Thai food that will please your palate and belly wonderfully. That said, I reminesce in vain for the street foods of many countries in Asia: Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, etc. In most instances, they are the very best food that any given exotic culture has to offer...
Even so, Khao San is very good (3.75). I asked the affable Thai waiter and possible co-owner Sam what he'd recommend aside from the world-wide popular Pad Thai: after suggesting a few dishes, I selected their Chicken Pa-nang Curry.
Flavours nicely cloaked tender white slices of chicken in a mild nutty sauce with bell pepper

We happened upon Khao San one Saturday evening without reservations and were graciously seated by the host.
Our meal of Fried Tofu, Green Curry and Charred Noodles with Stir Fried Vegetables was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. Even though the restaurant was nearly full, it wasn't super noisy like it would have been back home in the US. The prices were quite fair.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Khao San. Definitely recommend!!

A very good place for Thai food.
The quality of the food is very good and the staff is very helpful.
Making reservations is recommended because it's a small place and you may not be able to get a table when it's busy.
I have gone there two times without reservation and couldn't get in.
During the week without reservations should be fine since they're not that busy then.
I'll go back there again.

Came here for the first time a while ago with a large group of people and while I'm not too familiar with Thai food, I am definitely a fan of spice, curries and coconut-based dishes and after a lot of positive reviews, I was excited to give this place a go. The place is pretty small and while we thought we were seated pretty far away from the door, it got pretty drafty. The server was quick, attentive and pretty organized considering our large group.
A friend and I split the spring rolls and the Thai style beef jerky. The spring rolls came out individually in their own shot glasses with

Date night = Thai night!
What a cute little place this is. We walked in around 7:30 on a Friday without a reservation and were able to be seated, which was awesome - especially since we seemed to just miss the next rush of people that came in after us (at least 5 more tables)
Service was amazing. Always checking up on us but not being disruptive, fast and efficient and smiling. The décor was very warming and made me feel like I wasn't in Calgary, there is a lot to look at and enjoy.
We ordered the Poung Chom-Poo to start which is steamed dumplings, and what came to our table was an art
