Established in 1888 as a foundry near the waterfront in Nanaimo, the original company, previously known as Nanaimo Foundry and Engineering, serviced industries such as shipbuilding, fishing, mining, and logging. Over time, the company moved away from the metal casting business and into metal fabrication, machining and field construction.
With a large lay down area and direct access to marine barging, NFE is capable of fabricating and shipping products ranging in size from small machined parts to large items like conveyors, ramps and marine bumpers. Our NFE facility employs the highest technology in fabrication. Combining leading-edge equipment with NFE's skilled craftsmen resulting in superior quality products completely manufactured in-house. Specializing in steel fabrication using all types of material including carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum, our metal fabricating strength is evidenced by the myriad of products and custom projects.
With more than 125 years of experience in industrial maintenance and installation, the forestry industry still remains one of our focuses today. Installations and supply for pulp and paper shutdowns, forestry equipment repair and part replacement are still a part of our day to day operations in addition to manufacturing parts for new yarders and loaders.
Past and current projects NFE Manufacturing has been involved in range from complete portable buildings, stainless steel fabrication of handrails, stairs, platforms to API 650 tanks, conveyor rebuilds, and screw conveyors. We proudly cover Vancouver Island from our 2 key locations in Chemainus and Campbell River.
