Kranky Cafe
Kranky cafe opened in the spring of 2010, right after Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics. It is a local, independent coffee shop situated in the vibrant neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant. Being community oriented, its main focus has always been to bring people together. The cafe sells fair trade, organic, locally roasted coffee and the baked goods are made from scratch, in-house (gluten free and vegan options available).

Breakfast and lunch menu include freshly made sandwiches, wraps, soup, salads and Jamaican patties. If you are searching for an escape from the daily grind, away from the mainstream, Kranky is defintely the perfect place to be. I LOVE this place! Some of the best coffee in Vancouver, super friendly service, and delicious food, in an adorable little cafe.

Kranky cafe is a cute little coffee shop with quirky but cool Decor. And when I say little, I mean it. The place is really small but in some aspects I like it - makes it feel more cozy. Almost everyone I came across in here was very nice and it all made the coffee shop feel like a small-town hidden gem.

The coffee and food is pretty good but I wouldn't say it's anything too special. Chocolate cake and cookies are great though. Also, apparently they serve alcohol in the afternoon but I personally didn't have an opportunity to try coming here during those hours.

This is a small coffee shop located near Main Street and Broadway. In addition to various drinks, they offer sandwiches, patties, and rustic homestyle baked goods. I've sampled their Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Chocolate Coconut Nanaimo Bar, and Chocolate Cake, and have quite enjoyed all of their food, in particular their pie. Although it was not busy when I visited, the seating is quite limited, so it might be difficult to find a spot to sit if you visit during peak hours. Overall, I quite enjoyed my visit to the place, and I think that it probably serves as a great local hangout.

Came here with my bf on a Friday afternoon after our trip to Science World.

Cafe was quite busy when we got there but we managed to find seats because people were just taking things to go. I had a dark roast coffee, and a vegan chocolate chip and espresso cookie to share while my bf had an iced mocha with soy milk and a curry chicken puff pastry to share as well. His iced mocha was quite tasty and it wasn't too sweet. The curry chicken pastry was absolutely delicious! The curry wasn't too strong and it had a good amount of spices in it. The chicken was moist as well. There were two

Homemade bakery goods make this place legit. Solid fresh Sammys for lunch and consistent coffee drinks make this a daily drop in for me. Also have local bottle beer which is nice on occasion. Try the London Fog (did you know this is a Vancouver born drink?)

What a cute coffee shop!

The place doesn't seat maybe more than 15-20 people, the decor is very earthy and clean which makes for a relaxing environment...

They have LOCAL MOJA COFFEE, I was so excited when I realized they used a local North Vancouver brand because they have the best coffee hands down! The baristas know how to perfectly make the coffee which is a hug bonus as most places down fall is an improper brew. The sweet spot for moja is 24 second poor which they do perfectly here!

The staff were minimal but very efficient and friendly, they carry vegan friendly and sugar free

Wandered into this cute little cafe after parking around the corner. I didn't try the coffee, but since they're brewing local beans from Moja and Republica, you know the coffee will be superb. The server was very friendly and persuaded us to try the "mystery" bumbleberry pie. It was delicious. The oat crumble topping was tasty and crunchy. You get a very large slice for $5. After one bite, my sister also ordered a slice to go.

My only negative is that the bottom crust took a bit of work because it was a bit chewy, but not a deal breaker in my books. Would love to return

Great little social place that has strong but delicious lattes and tasty, very filling breakfast wraps (for meat eaters and vegetarians). Will definitely be back, as we usually walk by here on our way to Olympic Village. Looking forward to trying out their sweets as well.

Big ups to this place, tucked away by a tire shop and a bunch of live work apartments like the Kevin McAllister of coffee shops- youthful and alone but so f*cking dope. I'd let this place tar and feather me so long as I got an Americano after.

Kranky is the only coffee-shop in about a 5 block radius if you don't count the Donuts Place around the corner. Its decent / average stuff served by semi kranky hipsters. Its pretty good for a burrito and a coffee. Seems sort of home made stuff vs big box chain. Its a nice place to sit for 15 mins and scarf something. Very small, very casual.

Just a tiny hole in the wall cafe, primarily for the people living and working in the area. The food is reasonable- mostly vegan and generally health- conscious baked goods and deli fare, but the coffee...
I have been all over the world and tried coffee everywhere but, upon reflection, the coffee at the Kranky Cafe is THE best I have ever had.

Niched amongst the artists lofts and auto repair shops of the industrial part of Mount Pleasant, Kranky is a little oasis where people come to take a break from their busy day/life. It's edgy yet cozy and doesn't take itself too seriously. I haven't tried any of the baked goods yet, but the latte is perfect and their sandwiches are delicious! A great place for breakfast and lunch!

This is a cute and cozy little coffee shop just east off Main St. It reminds me of little independent coffee shops you might find in a small town. I had a medium latte (it was strong) and a piece of sour cherry pie. It was really good; I liked the brown sugar oat crumble topping on the pie. It was hard to decide what treat to order because all the cookies, squares and brownies looked so good! There are some sandwiches and wraps, too. I'd like to come back again to try more goodies. Looks like there is also some nice outdoor seating when the weather permits. It's a hidden gem just

Love it when I arrive a few minutes ahead of schedule for a meeting at Nimbus/Business Class Records (BCR) so I can grab a yummy latte from Kranky.

Great opportunity to run into staff and students but it's also a really chill place to hang out. Staff is always patient if not overly friendly and the baked goods are always homemade feeling and delish!

Chilled out neighborhood coffee place where you might see a visiting supermodel reading next to a group of construction workers and a young couple with their dog. From the staff to the people sitting next to you - this place is friendly and open. From the welcoming staff to the solid coffee this place was a refuge for us in the mornings on a recent visit to Vancouver. We felt that for those who live around the block or work nearby the feeling of "being at home" is what draws people in. I did not think the coffee was mind blowing, but it was good. The breakfast sandwich (egg) was less

It seems to sell out really fast (understandably), but if you get the chance, try the sour cherry pie, it's utterly to die for.
Super excited that Kranky will be open later in the summer. I plan to be frequenting the patio!

Minus stars because the prices are not advertised and are high. The high I can live with and choose more accordingly if the prices were marked somewhere.

The shorter of the two regular gals is not very welcoming or customer service inclined...unable to even muster up a simple hello when you walk up to order.

Imagine being handed the interac terminal that is set to begin with a tip selection that only starts at 20%....a little presumptuous for not dining in and it just makes for an uncomfortable interaction.

Bad first impression but the food was great so I will try once more.

I am eating the best gluten free cookie I've ever had at a cafe. It is peanut butter chocolate chip, and doesn't taste gluten free in any way, but apparently, it is! I am super impressed.

I do wish they had more gluten free options, however.

I'm also drinking an Americano, and it is tres tasty as well. Not too strong, not too weak. The decor in here is pretty cool: mismatching furniture, random pictures on the walls, a little bookcase (which is actually a book exchange!), and a picture of Justin Bieber taped to some espresso contraption for all to see. These folks have a sense
