We are the new owners of With the Grain and we can't wait to meet you. The With The Grain torch was handed to us by founder, Sheri Bishop, when we purchased the bakery back in April of 2020. It has been a big and exciting year for us, full of many ups and a couple of downs.

I (Erin) have been hard at work in the bakery, learning everything about With the Grain's heritage recipes, while adding a few new recipes and working on passion projects of my own.Alongside me labours our amazing team of bakers and front counter staff, as well as our amazing Head Baker/ Manager, Natalie Ilic.
Services
Many of our menu items change on a daily basis, but these options are on a schedule that is unlikely to change as often. We're working at getting all our products up on the website, but it's still in progress. If you see something you would like to try and are unable to find it in our online store, please call the bakery at 519-827-0008.
At With the Grain we understand how important your wedding is and we are committed to making sure your dreams become a reality. We have a team of dedicated people who are ready to assist you with custom designing your perfect cake and additional accompaniments. From wedding favours, to a beautiful and deliciously laid out dessert table, we will be there to assist your sweet needs every step of the way.
Thank you for your interest in Catering from With the Grain. We look forward to being part of your event! Please note that we are no longer offering Sandwiches, Veggie Trays and Hot Soup and Chili. We will continue to have a delicious selection of muffin & scone and dessert trays to choose from. Please call us at 519-827-0008 to ask about any special items we are currently featuring.

The food here is great but the service is very slow. It seems even if you know what you want to order it takes them 10
mins to fill it always. Usually you are waiting outside for 20-30 mins.

We reached out to inquire about a wedding cake (requested boston cream fillings), and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! They were very responsive and open to our ideas. Also the cake was fan freaking tasting, we loved every single bite! Looking forward to going back time and time again and reminiscing any time we get their boston cream donuts!

Simply the best cakes and desserts in the city. Rich, thick frosting and satisfying cakes, quality dessert squares, great pies too. Lots of other options too: Croissants, breads of all kinds, and so on.
This bakery is a must visit.
Their parking lot is small and the storefront is proportionally small. It is not a dine-in kind of bakery, there is no seating.

I’d give 10 stars if I could! By far the best bakery in town. Friendly service, exceptional sweet treats, excellent bread and great coffee. Highly recommend.

Great local bakery. Lemon squares are awesome. Sorry no picture of the butter tart, I ate it before I could take a picture. Yum :) Love this bakery, and really nice staff.

If you're looking for a local bakery shop while in Guelph, look no further. This place has amazing baked goods, coffees and fresh breads. Operating out of an old house located on a corner lot, the inside provides you with seatings to enjoy a great meal. My favorite is the BATH sandwich with a scone or square.

Limited parking and seats so be patient. People come and go pretty quickly. Great mixtures of customers.

Whenever I'm in Guelph I have to go to With the Grain!!

Although their portions can be small, their food never fails to amaze me. It is so natural and you can tell there is no added salt, or other artificial substances that don't need to be there. Their seating area has a very cute and welcoming vibe that makes everyone feel so comfortable.

I would recommend their white bean & kale pesto sandwich (pro tip= add some chicken to make it more filling) and their breakfast burrito!

All in all it's a great place to catch up with friends, family and enjoy some local organic food

We went here for brunch today. We both ordered the eggs with bacon. The eggs tasted very fresh and were cooked a perfect over easy, the dark yellow yolk running everywhere. The order came with four huge pieces of toast, fresh and buttered, served with homemade raspberry jam. Delicious! The bacon (3) slices was good, my boyfriend was disappointed in the small serving of pea meal bacon with his. Potatoes? Not good. Overcooked and not seasoned. It also came with a salad, which I felt was in the way. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the plates were way too small for so much food. We also shared

First the restaurant: 3 stars- The food and service was good. I had a cappuccino and roast chicken sandwich. Both good if not exceptional. Prices on the high side but not outrageous. I would have rated this place higher except I don't like the ambiance . It's extremely noisy even though I had a corner table. Seems popular with parents of young screaming children who like to throw their toys on the wooden floor. The chairs and tables are also wooden so maybe echo the noise. Parking is tight. I arrived around 9am and had to line up on the road for parking for a few minutes.

Whenever I come to Guelph I have to stop at With the Grain and their associated bakery across the street to grab some baked goods.
The lemon squares are fantastic and my definite favourite. There are not many vegan or gluten free options but I have seen more flourless desserts pop up.
They also have a bread schedule depending on the day of the week so you always know it is fresh.

Delicious baked goods. Potatoes undercooked - almost raw - for the breakfasts. When we told the server, he comped our coffees and took the potatoes off the bill. Hopefully upon telling the kitchen the same won't happen again. That's the extra star, otherwise would have scored it 3. Cute place. Nice garden for outside seating. I would come back for the baked goods but probably wouldn't stay for a meal. Their sandwiches looked great.

Holy CRAP the prices are out of control here. As someone who lived in Guelph for many years, I used to enjoy the deliciousness of With the Grain. It used to be pretty stellar. The last time my friend (a Guelph native), boyfriend and I went, we were super disappointed. Prices are outrageous, and the food just isn't worth it.

My friend's veg chili had semi-raw veg in it. The carrots were hard. The chili was average at best. I got the BATH, which I usually love. Sadly, the lettuce was slimy and wilted, which ruined the entire sandwich. My boyfriend ordered what was basically an Egg McMuffin

Yes. As everyone else has said, the food here is great. But the other aspects of the place really take away from food quality.

For one thing, it was unbelievably noisy, which I know is not the fault of the restaurant itself, but it make it very difficult to have a conversation with my friend. More importantly however, is the service. I have never felt like such a burden to a server before. I had to go up to the bakery doors to ask for more ketchup, and when I did, I found her talking to the other servers. When I asked for more ketchup, she looked annoyed that she had to stop her conversation

Had a lovely breakfast here: pancakes and housemade sausage. The pancakes are offered in several flavor varieties: seasonal berry, banana walnut, banana almond, banana chocolate chip. The sausage was very well seasoned. And they have almond milk available for lattes and coffee drinks. The baked goods in the to go case looked delicious too!

Great oatmeal pancakes. Awesome home made sausage. The smoothie was delicious too! Great service overall. My only small knock is that its a bit pricey by a thin margin. Would stop by again for sure. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. Highly recommend!

Stopped by for an afternoon snack at this cozy place I used to go to for coffee regularly when i lived very close by. Tried the Winter Salad, a colorful blend of flavors that tastes excellent. It includes quinoa, wild rice, pumpkin seeds, cranberry, goat cheese and carrots. Light and hearty at the same time. Will be back to have it again! Friendly service too.

I came here for lunch today from out of town because of all the good reviews I read on Yelp. Also, it has a parking lot, which saves me from embarrassing myself while trying to parallel park downtown.

Both my friend and I had today's special: roast pork panini with Brie cheese, arugula, rosemary mustard, and cranberry sauce on flax bread. The bread was fantastic - as I expected since it's made fresh at their bakery right across the street! The flavours in the sandwich were spot on, however my only complaint was that the pork was sliced quite thickly, making it hard to eat.

Homey/hippie/chill vibe with creaky wood floors, painted out, distressed chairs, people catching up, some reading the newspaper, others on their laptops, and a waiter who calls people, "Friends". :) That basically sums up WtG!

Coffee is GREAT! I believe there is at least 3 different brews to choose from which is roasted locally by Planet Bean. I had the Medium and one of the Bolds (not Grainer Gold), and both were nice 'n rich in flavour! None of that watered down stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed the BATH (Bacon Avocado Tomato Havarti, $8.50) sandwich on homemade bread. Bread
