Services
We are proud and happy to have made the switch to solar power. Every cottage is supplied electricity through our solar system. The system is limited in its capacity and cannot handle every cottage using additional electric appliances. Each cottage is supplied with a coffee perculator and a toaster that work great on top of the stove.
Opimika is surrounded by over 30 lakes. The fishing is endless. Pike, pickerel, trout, bass, we have them all. If you are looking for big water, Lake Temiscaming is 6 Kms away and it is approximately 50kms long and 1-2 kms wide (Ottawa river). We do have boats and motors for rent and we will shuttle you to the lake of your choice.
My name is Mike Shepherd. I have over 30 years experience in hunting and hopefully 30 more (God willing and the creek don't rise!). I have always enjoyed the challenge of baiting, tracking and hunting larger game, and have found the area around Opimika to be an out doorman's dream. For a new hunting experience, why not give us a try and I am sure you will turn Opimika into your annual hunting destination.
Yes there are perculators that go on the stovetop. Please leave your electric coffee makers at home. We are solar powered and if everybody plugs in an electric appliance, the system will shut down. This lake is stocked every 2 years with brook trout. It has perch and lake trout in it also. We have access to over 30 lakes, with all kinds of species available, within a short drive.

If you are looking for luxury cottages, this is not the place. HOWEVER the view is fantastic!! Very rustic cottages/ hunter's cabins placed at the edge of the lake. Surrounded by dense forest.
About 40km down logging roads into unseated land. Plenty of trails to explore. No cell service on site, BUT you can walk a short distance in higher areas and get signal.
Crystal clear lake, have access to a boat for fishing.
They do have plumbing (bathroom with shower) and kitchen with fridge and stove.
It is run mostly by solar.
Bring your own drinking water.
Friendly owner, with 2 dogs that roam freely

If you can imagine real wilderness then you are at the right place directly on the beautiful lake and extremely quiet. Cottages are outdated but if you are Hunter or Fisher then you might accept it. Owners are very nice and helpful couple. Ps. If you are looking to catch trout then I don't think that this is right place. Pearch is very common and you can catch them all day but they are pretty small

This camp is a hunters dream. It has moose, black bear and deer. I've been hunting here with my group for over six years. The owners do everything to make you comfortable. All the amenities a hunter and outdoors men needs, a beautiful rustic camp ground setting with a stocked lake, beautiful hardwoods and moose meadows are all over these woods. All cabins are clean tidy and have kitchens with everything you need. It accommodates all large and small groups. Our group got a 300 lbs 8 point last year, and got a trail camera picture of a large ten point this year. I recommend this camp for all of the

I've only been going to this hunting camp for five years and always had a good time with friends we've always seen and heard deer,bear and moose walking around and calling out there has been a year or two where we didn't get a animal which is ok with us cause it's so relaxing some of us even fish there to and some big fish. The cabins are nice and clean and rustic looking and if we ever had a problem with any thing the owners were always there to help with the issue or they'ed come buy to see how things were going
