Mackenzie Art Gallery
The MacKenzie is located on Treaty 4 territory in Regina's Wascana Park, Canada's largest urban park and home to the Provincial Capital Commission. Historically known as Oskana k-asastki (Plains Cree for "Pile of Bones") Regina is situated on the traditional territory of the Cree, Saulteaux, Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota people, and the homeland of the Mtis Nation.

Although the MacKenzie is Saskatchewan's oldest public art gallery, it is relatively young compared to the culture that has been practiced and shared on this territory for millennia. We acknowledge and honour the deep art history of this land, and aim to serve both this history as well as current and future generations.

Overrated. The prices are really high for what we got. We went there and most of the exhibits were closed. They had some videos as exhibits that were quite pointless and not art. It was boring in general.

The Stone Angel exhibit along with the short films in the theater were very insightful, very interesting. Half the gallery was closed during the day of my visit, but the staff only charged me 1/2 the price of a regular admission. The visit was well worth it.

The permanent collection is a diverse range of Artists connected in some ways to Saskatchewan. This is my second visit in two years and I'm delighted at finding pieces that I'll think about for some time. I had time to kill so sat through an hour of short films showing in their cinema and it was an hour well spent. It is a small gallery so an hour to view everything would be a reasonable amount of time.

Wow.. an unexpected treat. Displays were very well done although the message was not always clear.. I put that down to my lack of familiarity with the topics. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and pay particular attention to Covid. The gift shop is the absolute best I have seen with a ton of quality.

If Museums hold our past narrative, then Art Galleries have the opportunity to shape the vision we want for our future one. The Mackenzie Art Gallery in Regina is a STUNNING place! Walking in and seeing sculptures of elderly women, a pregnant woman reading a book, a child being kind to an elder in a wheel chair, an elderly couple clearly in love, amidst the most gorgeous indoor garden was a breathtaking, hope filling experience. The gallery's exhibitions were mindblowing, edgy, provocative and beautiful and left me full of questions and wonderings. An absolutely incredible building and experience

Very good installations and loaned exhibits from other sources. Pretty impressive, actually. Affordable and accessible. And, like the 'Hip sang, it all ends in the gift shop.

Note - admission is $10, far too high for this gallery. It should be $5 as a recommend donation in line with the other museum nearby. The ceramic collection (folk art) had far too many pieces and it was rather repetitive. I noticed a few J. Fafard sculptures which were amazing, these should not have been hidden but displayed near the entrance. There were also a few paintings in a smaller section.

Nice place with free wifi, nice staff and a good souvenir "art" shop. Go at left when you entry in the building entrance.
I did not specially was attracted and charmed by the arts. But with the free admission and donation system I was happy to be able to go by myself and make my own opinion about.
This is interesting to spend few hours there

Small gallery with a decent collection of art work. If you're in Regina with a few mins to spare, drop by. The admission is free and the gallery is housed in a very well designed building.
