Services
West Scarborough Community Legal Services is a legal aid clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario since 1988 and is one of two legal aid clinics in Scarborough. We offer a variety of legal services to low income residents who live in 'west' Scarborough and who qualify financially. The clinic is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors, who are elected from our membership.
WEST SCARBOROUGH COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES (WSCLS) is seeking volunteers to sit as Directors on its Board. WSCLS is a non-profit legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario that provides free legal advice, representation, and legal education to help low income residents maintain/obtain government benefits and housing, or have employment and immigration problems.
All information you give us about your legal problem is confidential - whether we are providing you with advice, referring you to somewhere else for help or representing you at a court or tribunal. Some exceptions may apply such as if we hear information that shows a likelihood of serious harm to you or others or if we get a request from Legal Aid Ontario for financial information to show that you qualify for our services.
West Scarborough Community Legal Services prioritizes community development and law reform. Community development is as critical to anti-poverty work today as it was 39 years ago when the first community legal clinic was created. Community development remains an important tool for clinics to use in building the capacity of low income people to be involved in the legal and political processes that affect them.
We do not provide assistance with abuse and family violence issues. Please contact Legal Aid Ontario on 1-800-668-8258 or visit their website for help with domestic violence issues. The Steps to Justice website offers step-by-step information about abuse, family violence and other common legal problems.
