In March of 2013, British Columbia enacted new provincial legislation, the Family Law Act, to govern family law. British Columbia is also subject to the federal law of Canada, the Divorce Act. There are two levels of court in which family matters may be heard: the Provincial (Family) Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Most people tend to put off thinking about what would happen if they were to die or become incapable of managing their affairs. Really, everyone should think about estate planning. If you fail to develop a plan, then you might not have any input into who manages your affairs, who becomes the guardian of your children, and what happens to your assets.
Mediation is a process where a neutral third party helps two parties who disagree. The mediator does not make decisions for the parties or tell them what the solution is. Instead, the mediator provides a structure that reduces the conflict, encouraging them to explore areas of common ground and work towards finding a mutually agreeable solution.
Collaborative family law is a client-centered process for negotiating and settling issues related to separation and divorce outside of court. Separated spouses, with the assistance of specially trained family law lawyers and other specialists, negotiate their outstanding issues in a structured and respectful setting.
Using a collaborative process can lead to resolution much faster than going through the courts. The collaborative process is designed to be non-adversarial and non-confrontational, which can help preserve relationships and allow people to begin new lives more amicably. Confidentiality and full disclosure in meetings and negotiations can help the parties reach resolution more effectively.

Saw Carrie and she was super helpful and friendly, free parking, nice office.
Very easy to book appointment.
Girl answering phone was always very helpful whenever I called with questions.
They have you fill out paperwork ahead of time so that they are all organized when you get there.
Paperwork can be done online, so refreshing.
Would recommend.
