Toronto Lawn Tennis Club
The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1876, mainly through the exertions of Mr. T. S. Plumb, where the grounds at 147 Front Street were obtained. His honour the Lieutenant-Governor and Mrs. Robinson will be present, and will open the proceedings. This is the first tournament in the Dominion, and it is hoped it will be a success. The first match is for the All-Comers' Championship, the prize for which is a very handsome silver cup. The ladies were by no means ignored during this period.

The first Ladies' Championship had taken place at the Lawn in 1883 and was won by Miss Bradshaw, but due to a lack of sufficient entries, the next championship was not held until 1891, when Miss Osborne of Sutton began a run of successes through 1894, defeating Mrs. Smith of Ottawa 3 times and then Mrs. Whitehead of Brantford at Ottawa. The winner was Mr. Tanner of Buffalo, but needless to say, the Toronto Lawn was well represented.

The location is amazing, the place is pretty nice. Clean and well maintained amenities, but being a caregiver isn’t the best place to be, people can be a bit rude :( not only my opinion and experience but many other caregivers that attend the place with their kids.

Historically a leading tennis club in Canada whose origins are as almost as old as Canada itself (1876). Many of the best players in Canada are affiliated with the Club. Excellent family club, although it could be much stronger (given the Club's resources and facilities) on high performance junior development . It has a current staff of excellent pro's.

I've been at this club a couple of times and my best friend applied for a job here and got a call for an interview.. She did not end up being offered the job position, although I think she would have been just what this club needed - someone who has the magic touch. In conclusion, we both believe that there are several areas in which this club needs to improve so that it can continue serving our community for many more years to come.
1 star for it's historical value, 2nd star for interviewing my best friend and getting her inspired again.

I've been a member here for most of my life. in fact, I learned to play tennis and squash through its kids programs. This place used to be a refuge for the typical Rosedale elite crowd, but in recent years I'm happy to see that there's a much broader cross section of the city. True, it costs more than a handful to join and maintain your membership, and you need to have multiple sponsors before even thinking of applying - but as far as private clubs go, it's worth it. It gets really crowded right after school/work on weekdays, but most of the time you're able to get

This was my first time in a tennis club - any club for that matter (except a night club). Nestled a little north of Bloor Street off Yonge Street, this is the weirdest location ever. From the outside it looks sort of like an apartment complex, or even a cult house!! No, I'm serious!! I didn't really know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. They have everything here, tennis courts, squash, pool, even a cafeteria and outdoor sitting area. It almost feels like a resort.

I was here to watch a tennis tournament, it was the big tournament of the club. There were a lot of
