Separation, prenuptial and cohabitation agreements, divorce petitions, child custody, adoptions, wills, and more. Filing and representation at motions (interim proceedings) or representation at trial for various family matters. My expertise is not limited to Family Law: I offer services in general legal work, estate and civil matters, and more.
Many people are now choosing to represent themselves in family matters that go before a judge. Learn more about self-representation. Parties who have some kind of dispute can decide mutually to come together to see if they can resolve it with the help of a mediator. I highly recommend Jo-Anne to anyone who is currently separated from their spouse where children are involved.

Services
Clients are not just a file number. They're real people with real problems. Clients trust their lawyer to work hard for them, to understand their problem and to get a positive outcome for them. I take that responsibility very seriously and I am committed to working hard to achieve that outcome. Clients at my firm are not handed off to junior lawyers or legal assistants.
Mediation is a way to solve a problem by two (or more) parties agreeing to come together - and work on a solution with a trained mediator. In marital separations for example, the parents decide together what is in the best interests of their children and how they will co-parent after separation. They also jointly make decisions about financial support and how they will divide up property.
Q: My wife and I separated last year and our two children live with her. She recently told me she's moving to B.C. with our children to live with her new boyfriend. Can I stop her? A: You can't stop your ex from moving but you can apply to the Courts to ask that he or she be ordered not to take the children.
It is essential that when we enter into a professional relationship the client understands how we bill for our time and what a retainer is and how they work. In a first consultation we make it a point to have a frank discussion about billing and encourage the client to ask questions, particularly if it is the first time that they are retaining a lawyer.
