Rodrigo Resende Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Spruce Grove is opening its doors to offer adults and children from Spruce Grove and surrounding areas the best martial arts, fitness and self defense instruction around. Professor Rodrigo Resende and his awesome team of instructors teach all classes. The school's emphasis is on self-improvement, and not just self-defense.

As our gym is one of the largest martial arts facilities in Canada, our members come from all parts of the Edmonton Area, including West Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, St. Albert and Parkland County. Programs are catered for both adults and children at all skills levels, from beginners to advanced.

Rodrigo is an amazing guy with amazing teaching styles. You feel welcome the second you walk in the door! Everyone is very compassionate, understanding, with overall amazing personalities. I joined on July 19, 2021, and since then have progressed to my yellow belt in Judo, these guys go above and beyond to deliver the best experience possible, to everyone. Kids are always happy to train, adults and youth are the same, and it is an extended family. This is more than a club to me, this is a second home. Best environment you can ask for. Everyone is there to help, uplift and train together. Kids were all smiles, learning the discipline of BJJ or Judo and interacting positively with each other. The instructors are knowledgeable Sensei Rodrigo is a giant, calm, and pleasantly loveable owner/instructor. Sensei Darren taught the adults and he works with you and makes you better. With the kids Sensei Andrew was passionate, gentle but firm, and all the kids loved him from what I saw. Great spacious facility and I could weight lift or treadmill while I waited for my kids or my turn to be on the mats.

I started BJJ in Toronto but when I arrived to Edmonton, I visited different schools. I wasn't satisfied with the instructors until I met Rodrigo Resende. He takes his time to develop every student's strengths and to overcome every student's weaknesses. I highly recommend Rodrigo Resende academy as you develop the self confidence, fitness and every member treats it's member as a family member

This school is exceptionally professional, organized, and clean. The staff is very warming and welcoming to all members. I believe one of the big things that makes Rodrigo's academy stand out to others is that there is a high emphasis on their youth programs and encouraging children to develop their character and discipline skills. For adults, I find that it is great for exercise, self-defense, and friendships. A special thank you to all at the Rodrigo school for improving the community!

I was in the area visiting some family this past April, and looked for spots to train. Rodrigo’s spot popped up with great reviews and it completely lived up to its 5 star reputation! Great instructors, students without egos, massive and clean facility, and extremely welcoming. Even got to work with Professor Lucas on some judo movements as well. Trained two different days for 4 sessions and had some great rolls with some of their local killers. Would highly recommend!

Rodrigo Resende Academy is not only a club but a second home to those who are striving to be the better versions of themselves. Very proud to be a part of this club! I have gained so much confidence in my skills in a short amount of time. Rodrigo is a patient and very knowledgeable instructor who cares about his students. The club is clean and organized and everyone takes pride in being a part of this team. The kids classes are very structured and it's awesome to see them excited to be there! I highly recommend women to come try it out. The skills you will learn provide a good base for cardio, self defence, strength and confidence.
