The Food Forest is Peterborough's only gluten-free and 100% plant based cafe; containing no meat, dairy, or eggs (Vegan). A Food Forest is a thriving edible woodland garden, built upon the principles of permaculture which embrace and work with nature to produce an abundance of nourishing food through an ecosystem that is diverse, sustainable, and resilient. All of our cheesecakes are made in house, vegan, gluten-free, sugar free, raw and made with as many organic ingredients as possible. We pride ourselves in making each of our cheesecakes with quality ingredients, precision, and our expertise. Please note that we do need a two days notice before you receive your order, giving us time to prepare ad create your wildest cheesecake dreams come true.

It's okay, defiantly not bad.
I found the food forest to be pretty decent for the price of the food. The interior of the place doesn't make you feel welcome and the food itself is just okay.
I would suggest checking it out if you are vegan or have dietary restrictions, its defiantly worth trying at least once. For me though, once was enough. Personally I don't find it good enough to desire going back to eat.

We had the most delicious meal for my 62nd Birthday! My husband had the black bean burger, I had the raw vegetable pad Thai, with potato and leak soup and we were treated with 2 generous slices of the best key lime pie. Passing through Peterborough and searched for a healthy food restaurant and found The Food Forest. Nice place with nice service.
The burgers were great. The sauces really made them special.
The polenta fries were interesting to try. I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting. They sort of crumbled.
We finished with a shake for dessert, which was really filling!

If you're looking for a fine dining experience and feel like Vegan food, there is no better place than The Food Forest! I was skeptical about Vegan food, but thought I'd give it a try. I 100% enjoyed my… experience there. Excellent food, excellent service and all at a fair price. Keep up the great work - I'll be returning there again soon! :-) <3

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! We Yelped this little gem on our way from Toronto to Ottawa; so worth the drive off the highway! The food was the best vegan gluten-free dishes that we've ever had. All items are housemade and/or local. The owner and her partner are young entrepreneurs- who personally provide amazing, friendly service; they graciously provided us with a free sampling of dessert. We will go out of our way again to revisit!

We stop at Food Forest just about every time we're in Peterborough (unless they're closed). I'm not vegetarian, but I've tried their burgers, I've tried their smoothies, and everything is delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Very laidback ambience, and I quite like their decor, with all the plants. Truly as good as it gets.

Came in expecting to get another mediocre healthy bowl... but after getting my food I was blown away. I’ve never seen avocado’s warmed up before but with the bowl i got it worked so well. The creamy dill sauce in my opinion is what made everything go so well together. This restaurant is healthy but also tasty. There service is also quick and attentive. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough they need more places like this in other cities. This is 10x better than freshii. I’ll be back later that’s for sure!!

I really enjoy dining at unique and one-of-a-kind restaurants and The Food Forest definitely lives up to it. Moreover, this restaurant is a vegan restaurant that is completely plant-based and gluten-free.

It's always a pleasure coming here. I've never been treated with less than a smile and a helpful attitude. My friend and I went to the establishment an hour before close and never felt rushed. The meal started off wonderfully with homemade berry lemonade and Kombucha. As we sipped our drinks and awaited our special the calm atmosphere made us comfortable and happy. We each ordered the vegan sushi bowl special as shown in the picture. It had warm sushi rice, nori, julienned carrots, tempeh, cucumbers, edamame, and finally, was topped with avocado and sesame seeds.

One of my all time favourite veggie stops. The Pad Thai is a must try. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere and excellent organic food makes this a place a perfect place for paleo vegans and their friends.
I travel from Ottawa to Toronto a lot and I make sure to go through Peterborough so I can stop and get my veggie fix.
