Services
For more than 30 years, Creative Matters' talented and inspired designers have been working with interior designers and architects to create exceptional floor and wallcoverings for luxury hotels, boutique retailers, cruise ship venues, stylish offices, elegant homes and diplomatic missions around the world.
A luxurious quality, handknotted means literally every knot has been created by hand. Creative Matters employs only adult artisans in Nepal, India and Afghanistan where this centuries-old skill has been handed down through generations. Most of our handknotted rugs are made with handspun Tibetan wool and the finest Chinese silk.
At Creative Matters we are on a mission to "design and create exceptional, original, high quality and ethically produced floor and wallcoverings." The way we look at it is that you simply can't have exceptionalism without high standards, originality without innovative thinking, quality without care, or ethics without empathy.
Creative Matters has been honoured to be nominated for the Domotex Hannover Carpet Design Awards over several years. Our Stripes Olive rug received the award for "Best Flatweave" in 2021, and our Origin rug received a nomination and became a finalist for "Best Modern Design Deluxe" in 2021. Nominations for awards such as "Best Modern Rug" in 2008 for our French Wire rug and "Best Modern Rug" in 2009 for our Nova Platinum rug.
Grateful and excited, we have just received delivery of this amazing handknotted rug from our artisans in Afghanistan. A new addition to the Storytelling Collection, Remembering Batoche is our painstakingly-recreated rug design from the painting by Metis artist Christi Belcourt that was inspired by the story of the Bell of Batoche.
