You wouldn't drive a car without insurance, would you? Your job is no different; it may be good now but you need support if something goes wrong - if you get sick, if a new manager makes changes that aren't working, if you're accused of doing something wrong. Employees with union representation are usually paid more, enjoy better benefits, worry less about security and have more say in the workplace.

You're part of an organization representing over 18,000 highly skilled professionals working in health care and community social services at hundreds of facilities around BC. Working together, we form a powerful voice for our patients, the health care system, and respect for the people who make it work each and every day.
HSA would like to acknowledge that our office is located on the unceded homelands of the Qayqayt First Nation (pronounced kuh-kite) on whose territories we live and thrive on. Our union works and has members in unceded territories across the province. Unceded means that Aboriginal title to this land has never been surrendered or relinquished.

Union is powerless and seemingly uninterested in protecting its members. Employer regularly took work out of the bargaining unit and gave it to friends as ‘contracts’. New positions were arbitrarily invented that were the same as previous positions but now excluded. I was on leave for eight months before I was even told there was a disability management department. Do not expect support with regards to your collective agreement and definitely do not expect to access LTD if you get sick.
