Velvet Sunrise Coffee Roasters
I have tried many beans for my espresso maker over the years from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary but none. My favourite coffee ever! I have tried so so so many different roasters and always come back to buying beans from this. You don't really know that coffee can taste really different until you go to Velvet Sunrise.

The coffee is extremely. I'm being generous giving 3 stars, I give 5 stars for the coffee beans, I bought a pack for my home coffee machine, . To make your gift buying easier for your favourite coffee fans in your life, I've got a couple lists of gifts for coffee lovers for under $100. Because, let's be honest, you can start dropping some serious cash on coffee gear easily if you want to.
Services
Whether you're already a full-time coffee geek like us, or you're simply searching for a better cup of coffee, we look forward to welcoming you soon. Velvet Sunrise celebrates all of the intricate details that affect the fragrance, the flavour, and the freshness of coffee.

Obsessing over the precision of every coffee they source, roast, brew, and serve, Mark & the team at Velvet Sunrise want to deliver to you the best cup of coffee you've ever had. It's all a matter of the attentiveness that's given in every single step of the way.
Velvet Sunrise celebrates the coffee dreamer who wants to start their own cafe, and those already on their journey. We understand the challenges, and that's where we come in. Our intricate knowledge of every step of the coffee process, including what happens in cafes allows us to help our clients along the way.
One of the more interesting parts of the journey through enjoying Coffee, is to experiment with different ways of brewing. Pour in about 50g of water. Stir to wet grinds. Start timer. Bloom for 20 seconds. Add 350g water. Pulse pour 100 g every 20 seconds until ratio is reached. When the coffee level reaches the belly button, remove the filter, even if some slurry remains.
First, let's talk about freshness for coffee. As a specialty coffee roaster, our standard of freshness starts the clock ticking on the day the coffee is roasted and packed into our special bags. Our goal is to get the coffee into your hands within 2 week's of roasting, whether you purchase it at the roastery, at a cafe, or at a specialty grocer.
Is your morning cup doing you more harm than help? Study after study has been done on the health benefits of coffee, but not everyone agrees that the benefits outweigh the consequences. Some claim that commercial coffee is contaminated with dangerous mycotoxins, which can cause people to perform badly and have a higher risk of disease.

My first time to this small roaster. Best Yirgacheffe bean bought in GTA so far in my own opinion. Worth the drive.

We use to live in Stouffville and frequented this fine establishment many times a week, sometimes a day. Mark and Lisa's knowledge of coffee, beans and the roasting process is unparalleled. Julia is extremely friends and is also very acknowledgable. Now that we are in Peterborough, we find ourselves lost without our coffee from Velvet Sunrise but when we are in down, we make sure to get our fill!

Amazing local family owned business. I used to get their beans from Village Grocer but once I discovered they were close by I buy direct. The coffee is incredible and they often have unique lots which are fun to try. Highly recommended.

This was a very nice place. The aroma of their coffees stretched across their shop like a fine crema, and right away I knew I had found a good little spot for coffee. The place is quite small, yes, but as with an espresso shot it is concentrated with goodness and taste. There's lots of quality coffee in this little store.
I purchased three bags of freshly roasted coffee beans, all of which had come out of the roaster only a few days earlier. One of the bags of beans was so freshly prepared, it had been roasted the previous day! They mark the dates of roasting right on the bags, which are packaged

Located in the heart of Stouffville, Velvet Sunrise sells at a very competitive price. Coffee selection is good. I like their beans from Kenya & Burundi. I only wish they had choices of the beans in different roast profiles

Excellent coffee assortment to choose from, and a good selection of teas as well. A local roaster that does right in their sourcing, being fair to coffee farmers. Check them out.

We ordered the mocha and vanilla lattes about 2 months ago. The mocha latte was horrible. It was bitter and left a foul after taste. We had to throw it out. The vanilla latte was underwhelming. If you want a decent coffee in Stouffville, Red Bulb never disappoints.

Delicious espresso. I ordered an Americano over ice with a splash of oat milk and it was honestly one of the best tasting, simple drinks I've had. My hubs said his cappuccino was "quite good" which is high praise from him. The only reason I didn't give a 5/5 is because the woman who served me was cold and uninviting and frankly if you're in a high level coffee business you need at least a minimum level of friendliness to go along with it.

I was excited to try the coffee here, but disappointed to find that you had to buy a whole cup to try it. Apparently they offer other options on the weekend.

I was however, pleased with the quality of coffee. Enjoyed the best latte of my life here (largely due to the barista, and bought two pounds of beans priced similar to other coffee roasting places at $15 each.

The taste wasn't so bad for the first pound, a house blend, but the smell was like Maxwell House coffee- not worth $15... But as I say the taste was good, though not outstanding.

Off the beaten path. Couple of small tables to sit, but more of a grab and go. They freshly roast the beans in the back. Great espresso. Grabbed a bag of their Costa Rica blend to take home. Friendly staff. Recommended!

Buy beans here! I love their Costa Rican single origin bean for pulling espresso shots. The Velvet blend is balanced and very enjoyable. Picked up a bag of Ecuador single origin today and can't wait to pull a shot - will update later. If you love coffee, you'll love this place or try one of their subscriptions at velvetsunrise.ca.

I found this company on Yelp while hunting for possible gifts for relatives near Barrie and Thornton (approx. 2,800 miles from me). They were great at answering my e-mailed questions and super fast on shipping.

Eventually I'll hear how my two sets of relatives like the three different kinds of coffee I chose but, for now, this company fully deserves 5-Stars for customer service!

If I ever make it up there again, I'll stop by to try it myself!

Love it! Best coffee and snax to go with coffee ever- we are so lucky to have such a renowned coffee spot so close by - so glad they also sell the coffee at Village Grocer, the best luxury grocery store in York Region, and also at the amazing Sunday Unionville Farmers Market on Unionville Main Street all summer/ fall. :) Thanks Mark and Lisa !!!!

Was looking for coffee equipment and found this local roaster. Great service and items are reasonably priced.

They do make fresh coffee drinks to order. But it would be great if they had a menu display of their offerings.

A small coffee shop upfront but in the back its like a specialized coffee roasting type of setup. The smell of the coffee being roasted at the back was amazing. There was only one person working at the time. He was busy making a fresh roast in the back.

Got an ice coffee with caramel at $4. I really enjoyed the drink. Perfect for a hot summers day.

There are only about 2-3 tables for seating inside. Service was very friendly. I will come back for sure when I am in the Stouffville area.

Drinking an Americano using Velvet Sunrise own Colombian bean pulled by Mark made me a FAN.

Well balanced and with good crema. I just wish I can pull such a perfect espresso shot.

So until I can perfect my techniques, I would be dropping by more often for a coffee. And get more equipment and beans to improve my home brewing coffee.

It really is 4.5 stars.

Calling Velvet Sunrise a coffee shop is a misrepresentation. Mark, the owner of Velvet Sunrise, not just brews a mean cup of java, he embraces coffee as a culture. He takes brewing to a science level, taking into consideration the mineral quantity in the water, the quantity of coffee beans to use, by weight, by type of beans, the water temperature, etc.. Mark is a coffee lover/geek/nut. And VS is a coffee shrine.

I discovered VS through a Yelp School event. Inside the unassuming storefront is a room of generous size. On my right hand side was a wall of merchandises

Mark is a huge coffee geek!!! From water quality to the brewing, he knows ALL.

And huge coffee geeks create the best coffee shops! Thanks to Kris who brought us for a coffee lesson here with Mark, I now know there's this amazing place just 10 minutes away from my Markham home.

Mark is patient, answers all our questions without making us feel stupid, and he is curious about coffee drinkers -any coffee drinker. How do you make coffee? What do you do at home? Why do you like that? It doesn't matter what others think, it's your perfect coffee!

He is a perfectionist when it comes

Do you know where Stouffville is? Well you should, because it's starting to take off and there are some signature destination spots that are making waves in this north eastern GTA Suburb.

One business that's definitely got people 'buzzing' (pun totally intended) is Velvet Sunrise Coffee Roasters. Currently in the midst of a renovation to make their difficult to find location a little more open to customers who'd like to come in, buy a bag of beans and have a cup (or two) of their coffee.

Velvet sunrise imports all varieties of beans from all over the world in their most
