HouseMaster opened it doors in Sherwood Park back in 1994 and has conducted over 50,000 home inspections. In 2012, HouseMaster was acquired by Paul Dolynny, who also owned House Guard Home inspections and the two companies were then merged. This created one of the largest professional home inspections companies Alberta had ever seen!
All HouseMaster Team Members hold a valid Home Inspector license from Service Alberta and adhere the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as defined by CAHPI (Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors) and adopted by Service Alberta.
In addition, they must remain members in good standing of InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) and complete a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education each year to retain employment.Further, they all must be members in good standing with NIBI (National Institution of Building Inspectors) which requires an annual re-certification exam with a passing mark of 90% or more.

One of the most common questions we get is, "What gets checked?". The simplest answer is that your inspector will inspect everything that he can see and safely access. That means that any items that may be concealed behind walls, ceilings, flooring, occupant storage, or furniture may not be inspected.

Paul the inspector was very punctual, straight to the point, and did take time to make sure if everything in the unit was in a satisfactory condition (or not). As I was a first time home buyer and a newcomer to Canada, he also went out of his way to explain the essentials of owning a home and living here. Overall, the inspection process was extraordinary and can't find a single downside. I hope to use his service again in the future!

Had Doug for our first inspection! He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, super thorough and was clearly very experienced. He made sure I asked all the questions I had and gave me a run down of everything he noticed. He gave details and even potential reasons, including suggestions for some issues, which I thought was really informative! We definitely learned a lot and it was a wonderful experience for us.
Amanda was also great, very nice and super patient with me (even as I cancelled 2-3 times due to date issues) during the whole booking process.

I hired HouseMaster for an inspection before buying a house. I was really pleased with their service. The inspector, Doug, spent at least 3 hours in the house. He went over everything with me patiently and taught me a lot of things I didn't know. He was very nice and made me very comfortable to ask all the questions I had. I haven't lived in the house yet, so I can't say anything about the "accuracy" of the inspection, but I was left with an impression the inspection was very thorough.

Doug was incredibly thorough and patient as he walked me through my new property, making note of concerns and suggestions for future improvements. The cloud is handy for referencing the report at any time, and keeping track of house details (appliance make/models, paint colors, general maintenance records, etc.) Highly recommend!

They made the inspection process easy and painless. Extremely thorough with explaining everything from the very beginning about how the inspection goes. Anytime the finished an area of the house they immediately walked us through what was right and what needed attention. Would use for future inspections and recommend them to everyone else as well.

I just looked online for home inspectors and came across this company. Read some good reviews and went with them. We got Doug for the inspector, and he was really good. This is the first time we've had to do this and he was so helpful, so informative, and very, very patient with my never ending "how much will that cost" questions haha. He explained everything thoroughly to us. His tone of voice sounds like your old man explaining stuff around the house. Don't know if it matters to some but it was nice. Highly recommend this company!

We recently used Housemasters for our pre-purchase inspection of a 1976 home in Leduc. Their quoting and booking process was very easy and painless.
The information they provided prior to service was really helpful.
The inspector arrived on time and was very detailed, he took us through the inspection process and explained everything very clearly. We received a detailed report via email within 24 hrs of the inspection which included all items mentioned on site, a very good report and pictures galore. The inspector was very knowledgeable and provided excellent explanations of items needing attention
