Dr. Ken Gummeson has been practicing veterinary medicine in Kamloops for almost 20 years, with a special interest in canine reproduction and lameness disorders. We are also the only practice in BC that has a cat specialist; Dr. Diane McKelvey has been recognized since 2003 by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners as Board-certified in Feline Medicine (ABVP-Feline).
30 MINUTE APPOINTMENTS: In order to practice good medicine, we need to take a careful history and do a good physical examination on your pet. Most practices try to do this in 15 to 20 minute appointments: at Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital our regular medical appointments are 30 minutes.

Services
Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital is located in Aberdeen Court, at the corner of Hillside Drive and Hillside Way, across from the Aberdeen Mall. We are up the hill from Walmart, and down the hill from Canadian Tire. If coming from Highway 1, take Exit 368 (Hillside Way), go past Aberdeen Mall on your left, then proceed through the lights and into Aberdeen Court.

We brought in our lab who was in distress on a emergency visit. All of the staff and the vet were excellent with her they took the time to help settle her and me as well they aren't our regular vet but they are now. The prices for testing and other things offered are fair the environment is clean and welcoming. Even though the results were not what anyone wanted to hear they still came up with a plan going forward. They did not do any unnecessary things and worked with in my budget. I would highly recommend this vet clinic to anyone. I gave them five stars because they earned it. Thank you Aberdeen

Dr McKelvey and the team are amazing! I have one cat with chronic issues and one who’s had a few surprise issues pop up recently, with both she’s always been very caring, thorough, and informative so that I could make the best decisions for my pets’ treatments. During every visit I’ve been greeted with smiling faces and a friendly atmosphere, I feel very confident trusting my furbabies with this team.

I just had my first appointment here and I cannot begin to explain how happy I am with the staff and office here. My boy is epileptic and also a pretty big guy and with back leg problems the staff were so helpful to carry him in for me which was honestly a life saver. The vet was absolutely great at explaining the issues with my guys legs and going over the diagnoses after doing x-rays and explaining everything in great detail. I most definitely will be coming back to this office again both for the care and for the cleanliness and access to great medical imagining and care they showed for my boy

I was as nervous as my kitty for meeting a new vet. Walking into the reception area we were greeted, asked our names for the appointment. They were very kind. We met with Sarah (Vet) who immediately seemed to understand my cat. Spoke and treated him as I do. This put me at ease. She was awesome, very descriptive, informative, and helpful during and after my cat's exam. She was gentle when giving him a vaccine. She answered every question we had and taught us very much. Dr. Campbell and the entire team at Aberdeen veterinary hospital are incredible. From the way you are greeted upon arrival, to getting your pup a checkup, the entire process is friendly, compassionate, and professional. I feel like we are very well looked after and on top of that they regularly order and have medications on hand so you aren't waiting weeks for something your dog needs right away. Aberdeen Vet is THE BEST, hands down! You know it's time to switch vets when your more stressed going to the vet, then the darn cat is!
They completely blew my expectations out of this world. The last vet wanted to pull all of my cats teeth quoting thousands of dollars. And no lab tests before surgery only during surgery. (We figure he is about 16 years old. I didn’t know much about his health records.) Aberdeen agreed and let me get lab tests before surgery. They day of the surgery, they were fabulous! They were so good with him. I’m NOT a trusting person however, I do trust Aberdeen Vet

We've seen several vets at Aberdeen and love the staff there. When we needed emergency surgery last night for our kitty who ate something he shouldn't, Dr Gummeson and Chris were amazing. I am so grateful that Aberdeen is part of the on-call schedule now and was available to help in our time of need. Never once did I feel as though I were… inconveniencing the staff coming in at 8pm with my sick kitty, and the care was exemplary. The COVID precautions they have in place made me feel very safe personally, too. And, this morning, Chris called to check on my kitty and I asked him to check something

They are the kindest most caring vets in town. Our little maltese cross needed serious dental surgery . We were treated with the most gentle and professional care. I was supplied with copies of x-rays and a… complete itemised list of supplies and procedures, proper detailed print outs of instructions for after care. It really set my mind at ease. I must say the Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital in Kamloops were exceptional in the care and treatment of our dog,Carmen .
Dr. Sarah Colbourne was very professional and although we could not go into the building… due to the current Covid regulations they have set in place , the Vet phoned us regularly to give us updates, let us know what her recommendations were and to ask us if it was ok to proceed with any medical procedures prior to administrating them .
The technicians and receptionist were all very friendly, and attentive to Carmen and our needs and/ or questions as well. I can’t

Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital has been so wonderful to work with. My sweet puppy Maddy absolutely loves going to the vet. They are very personable and knowledgeable. They take their time assessing our pup and… explaining everything in detail to us. We are new dog owners and have a million questions and concerns. They are always very patient and I never feel rushed. They even followed up via email after our last appointment to check in on her. Such great service. No one believes me when I say my dogs are excited to go to the vet but it’s absolutely true. Despite one dog having multiple surgeries here and the other being a little fearful, they both love being here. They… never overcharge you, and thats coming from someone whose paid for 2 knee surgeries. They fit you in asap with your preferred Dr if you have one, we highly recommend Dr Gummeson but have had excellent experiences with all vets and techs!
