We use evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR and Mindfulness Based interventions to assist with symptoms of Anxiety, Anger, Depression and more. We teach Emotional and Behavioural Self-Regulation to assist with distressing inner thoughts and feelings, or behaviours that need to change.

We assist you in making changes to reduce the adverse effects of too much stress. We also work with individuals interested in personal growth. We can provide a variety of assessments for helping students make changes at school so they can achieve to potential; for people engaged with the judicial system, and for individuals with psychological or physical injuries that want to get more of their lives back.

Dr. Dawn DeCunha has been a practicing Clinical Psychologist for over 20 years. She has extensive knowledge in the assessment and treatment of complex issues in Trauma through the lifespan. She is also an Educational Psychologist, and has an interest in School related problems (behavioural, learning and social/emotional adjustment).
A basic tenet in all healthcare is "Before Treating, Diagnose." Without an appropriate diagnosis, we may miss important elements to help support our clients. This is as true in psychology as it is in other branches of healthcare.

At Psychology Works, we conduct a number of different types of assessments so that our clients, their families and referring professionals can better understand the critical psychological issues, and what to do about them.An appropriate psychological assessment is bedrock to good psychological intervention.
Ketamine is a Health Canada approved anesthetic used in surgical procedures as well as pain management. In low doses, ketamine is also used off label in combination with specialized psychotherapy designed specifically to work with the 'expanded state of mind' that ketamine evokes. KET is most appropriate for those with enduring symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, or other stressful mental health problems.
The main difference is that a Psychologist can diagnose and a Psychotherapist cannot. Though most insurance providers you will be able to see a Psychotherapist under the supervision of a Psychologist.
