Established in '98 and located in the seaside town of Qualicum Beach, Arbutus Dental Clinic's team includes two dentists, five administrative staff, four dental assistants and seven dental hygienists. Serving the Oceanside communities of Parksville, Qualicum, Bowser, Deep Bay and more. As it has always been, infection control will continue to be our guiding principle.

Over the past year, we have been carefully planning and evaluating our operating protocols in order to ensure we're doing everything we can to protect our patients and team members. To achieve this, we have implemented new policies and purchased new equipment to meet or exceed the guidelines set out by the BC Ministry of Health Restart Plan and the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia.

Dr. Lacouvee has been my dentist for over 20 years. He is amazing. Very gentle and caring with needles and your comfort. His willingness to explain what he is doing while I watch has really created an enjoyable experience for me over the years.

I believe Dr.Gooch erred in the treatment of a cracked tooth I had filled by him. I experienced a good deal of pain yet he forged ahead with crowning the tooth and my tooth infected days later causing me even greater pain. 4 months and 9 dental visits later a root canal and new crown was completed with many deviations and hiccups along the way. Suffice it to say I'll be moving on to a new dentist as I believe my dental health care needs would be better served elsewhere and in a more timely manner.

I have been most pleasantly surprised by Dr. Gooch services. I to suffer from dental anxiety and he is very compassionate and makes you feel relaxed. However most of all I am impressed by his dental skills. Other dentists said they couldn't do certain work without major procedures and Dr. Gooch fixed my problem within 1/2 hr without having to do major gum surgery. Dr. Gooch knows his business.

Don't do it! feel like they are in it for the money. I have never been in so much pain in my life... and I've given birth 3 times! I could write a lot... but easiest just to say keep moving along in your search.

I have seen many dentists and suffered from severe dental anxiety my entire life. I have never had a dentist who could properly freeze my mouth until I met Dr Gooch. Beyond that, his overall dentistry is… phenomenal. He is kind, gentle, accountable to his work, and very knowledgeable. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about Simon, and his entire office. He is, without exception, the best dentist I have ever seen in my life. 5+ stars.

After having the worst experience with dental care in our lives four years ago, we decided never ever to consult any dentist on Vancouver Island again.
