James partner Jim is not a man of his word. He owes a lot of money to his employees and customers. He is always hiding and running from everyone. My deck is still not even close to complete. Its been 7 months and only have holes in my backyard. No communication/response. Only fake commitments from their office. I wish I had chosen a different contractor.
Only let him build your deck if he does it for free. Or pay him after the work is done. Otherwise you will be waiting and waiting and waiting...

Unfortunately it appears as though no one communicates with each other. We had people show up to build a shed with no drawings or any idea what they were building. The shed was never completed.
Make sure you verify that he is obtaining a build permit for anything that requires one and get it in writing as Jim will attempt to change the narrative. They were unsuccessful in obtaining a permit for our deck and gazebo project and blamed the city, even though we had communication from the city which showed they did not submit all required information. We have an uncovered south facing deck which was unusable during hot days in the summer. We were looking for a deck roof to be constructed. Contacted the deck guys - James was very prompt in getting us a quote which was very reasonable. The crew, especially Sean, were great to work with. The roof looks amazing with great craftsmanship. (even better then our deck which was made by the builder)

Some of the worst workmanship. Post hole dug without locating the gas line and only missing it by inches. Post holes in the wrong location. The photo of the step riser is cut and will fail. The riser have no hanger at the top. I am heavy over 300 lbs. But you have to love the idea that the stairs and the garage door line up. There is about 3 feet meaning if you slip at the base of the stair you will most likely come in contact with your neck or face being torn apart by the ragged metal at the base of the door. This is not the complete list of crappy workmanship.

The deck guys have built me this amazing deck which is well above the standards of most. We had a in vision of what our deck should look like and James made some great suggestions that made our in vision to our dream deck. Scott the lead hand of the crew that built our beautiful deck, was super. He was very professional, and informative with the whole process. I would recommend the deck guys to anyone that is looking for a deck in the future. The service and final product is above all else.
