Once upon a time there was a log home builder in Whistler, BC, Canada. He worked with all sorts of contractors desperate for finishing products that they could count on. Because he was also a skier, he knew such coatings would have to withstand the elements and still go easy on the environment. So it was, in 1991, that Bill Willis founded CBR Products, and worked with a talented chemist to develop the BRODA Pro-Tek-Tor line of wood finishes.

Over 15 years ago, CBR Products founder Bill Willis started looking for a more durable finish for the high-end log homes he was building in Whistler, B.C., Canada. Combining traditional oil stain formulas that have lasted for hundreds of years with modern coating technology, the CBR Products' team created Broda.
Achieving a visible wood grain look with durable UV protection is a challenge for most coating products. As you apply coats of pigmented stain over the years, more pigment is added to the surface of the wood and the more the grain of the wood is hidden. Pro-Tek-Tor is a safe penetrating product. As such, the surface of the wood must be clean and the pores of the wood must be open to allow the wood to absorb as much Pro-Tek-Tor as possible.

I recently refinished my English Oak kitchen table and stained it with two coats of the Broda PRO-TEK-TOR SLT #240 Burnt Wood and top coated it with the two coats of Pro-Thane Ultra Rich Floor & Stair gloss and final top coat in satin. Looks stunning and is an environmentally responsible product with very low VOC’s so I was able to apply coatings in the kitchen without the strong odour of a typical or similar product. Thanks again to the crew at Broda for helping me out with this project.

I have been using CBR's products for the last 15 years and consider them to be a first in class as far as application ease , environmental/durability performance and the final product appearance . The team at CBR is amazing. I needed 3 gallons of stain to match a custom colour and they went out of their way to make sure it matched. They even went so far as to do a brush test to make sure a gallon purchased a few months earlier matched the new batch. All for an order under $100! Great service, great people and fantastic products! The stain on my new privacy screen matches my 10 year old pony walls. Couldn't be happier with the results.
