I love Western foods because they have the best selection of organic and specialty foods. I am very disappointed though that there is not a washroom that you can use now. Older people seem to have issues issues with bladder control and not having a bathroom and emergency when you're shopping is really inconvenient. I love the store and it's products though I just wish I didn't have to go to village foods because they have a bathroom.

This store is dirty. I mean... I would NOT buy my food there. The produce section has flies! Seriously disgusting.
I looked at the meat department and some of their beef looks brown and old.
I don't think it would be a good idea to shop there. There is a much better (and clean) alternative across the street. Stay safe, everyone!

Was refused service for not wearing a mask. Due to the legal situation surrounding Confidentiality of medical and mental history it is not mandatory to provide proof of Mask exemption, which was stated to both managers.
At the till I was told I had to either wear a mask to pay, or leave. After some discussions I decided to leave. I was also told that the staff member deemed I did not have a medical exemption based on my reply to his request to put a Mask on.
I simply said "I do not have to wear a mask" about 3 times in a row.
I will refrain from naming the staff by name here, but I will be looking

This store is experiencing a crisis in management. Customer service is deteriorating, the meat department is still a threat to the public health, meat should not be green, and I think the bottom is in sight...on a personal note, I had a very unfortunate experience here recently. I am a diabetic. There are times when I need to check on my blood glucose level, and sticking your finger in public is bad manners. So I like to use a washroom for this. This store's washrooms are posted as closed to the public, but I have used them for my specific medical situation in the recent past. On this day, the

Sold expired meat that was rotten to the point of putrefaction. Something none of us in this organization have ever experienced outside of Africa, China, or India. Call transferred multiple times with staff finding all sorts of excuses to deny responsibility. At store, staff refused to refund rotten meat, refused to take what was left off the shelves, refused to provide the name of any manager... and complained that the request was "aggressive."
Taking rot, morale and otherwise, to new heights, even to Canadian standards.

I love this grocery store over the other one. Although they each have their own perks, I personally always go to this one. (I love their discount section!)
As for the seldom bad reviews, I’d say there are a lot of snobby people on the island that hold grudges over things that aren’t in anyone’s control. Mistakes can happen, you aren’t dealing with robots after all. We are all human and being accusatory will never get you good customer service.

The cashiers are always friendly to me (as I’m friendly) and I’ve always had them

I had an issue with a product from the deli. A container of salad wasn't sealed properly and spilled all over the rest of my groceries on my trip home I had to wash all of my fabric grocery bags. When I discussed the matter with the deli manager, she told me what I had done wrong. Really. And not the first time either. My advice to her: Customers with money are your friends, so act like it. If your department makes a mistake, apologize and make amends...don't blame the customer. Offer a refund. Make a good business decision. And the meat sold in this store STILL represents a serious threat to public
