Services
Celebrating over three decades on Vancouver Island and Salt Spring Island, family-owned and operated Country Grocer has earned a reputation as a truly local company with a deep commitment to our local communities and to the Island's farmers, growers and producers. Our roots reach back to 1984 when Wally Large and Henry Zwynenburg founded Nanaimo's Food Country.
The past three decades have been a rewarding and energizing experience and we look forward to continuing our growth over the next thirty years and beyond. We developed our business with a key set of values in mind. First and most importantly, our customers would receive the best in meats, seafood and fresh produce with a wide variety of quality foodstuffs and grocery items at reasonable prices.

I love your store and I also wanted to let you know that the Simon's bakery pies you are bringing in are a great addition. I especially love the chicken pot pie as well as the chicken curry. I must admit after tasting their "tourtieres" wow! they are unbeatable. Being of French Canadian descent I must gives a thumbs up for them. I was in the store today but unfortunately you were all out of their family size tourtieres but I did manage to buy two little ones. Tourtieres are a "must" during the Christmas season.

We sincerely appreciate the generosity of County Grocer - Esquimalt in donating end-of-season vegetable plants to our community garden. We are so thrilled to be able to turn these plants, otherwise destined for the compost heap, into food for those who need it. Once again, Country Grocer has demonstrated their commitment to our Esquimalt community. Many thanks!
