Unionville Tennis Club was unofficially started by a handful of residents living nearby the two asphalt tennis courts at Toogood Park located near the intersection of Fred Varley Drive and Sciberras Road around 1971. The leaders of the group were Bill Fowler, Ted Easton and John Forbes. In 1975, the Town of Markham built three hard courts at the present location in Carlton Park.
Unionville Tennis Club was officially established! The first president in this new facility was Bob Wilder who with a team of volunteers built a small wooden clubhouse. In 1981 the Town added 3 more hard surface tennis courts and in 1987 the clubhouse was doubled in size. Finally in 1993, the water main and sewage system were connected and UTC received kitchen and washroom facilities!

Services
A jewel set in the heart of Carlton Park in City of Markham, at the corner of Village Parkway & Carlton Road (map)! Unionville Tennis Club, UTC, a not for profit community based club with 9 courts (6 hard and 3 clay) offers a wide range of programs and activities for both the recreational and competitive tennis player.
2020 has been very different but it was great to see returning and new members come out to our club this year to play the sport we all love! The AGM is a key event for those who want to learn about UTC's operations. We welcome questions and comments from all of our members to continue improving our club.
The Kevin Cheung Juniors Award was created in memory of a former UTC Juniors Director. Kevin was a passionate volunteer who served on the UTC Executive for several years. Whether recruiting for junior teams, organizing juniors summer camps and other lesson programmes or setting up fun events, Kevin was tireless in his commitment to seeing our younger players enjoy the sport.
We have temporarily suspended accepting ALL additional membership registrations at this moment. After this point, we will continue to monitor the court usage to consider opening up membership registration for other categories in the future. Full Season Membership at the Unionville Tennis Club is open to any member of the public 5 years of age or older.
Each year the Unionville Tennis Club provides a wide range of events and programs for its members. Be it organized competitive, recreational or instructional activities, or just random self-organized playing opportunities, there is something for every tennis player. For a current calendar of weekly events please go to Calendar.

Great space and wonderful coaches!
I hadn't picked up a racquet sport until I met Coach Connor. He was friendly yet educated in having me feel comfortable on the courts.
Now I work with Coach Andy and I never would've thought how quickly I'd love the sport! Highly recommend this space, both members and staff are kind and it's well maintained with plentiful parking.

The place's facility is nice, the coaches are nice to you, i learned a lot from this place and I improved @ tennis a lot from every week's lesson. It is a bit expensive if u purchase membership, but even without it, u still learn as much. Also u r provided free tennis courts @ any time with membership. It's worth it to buy the membership, without it still amazing. Good Job to the coaches, they do a good job! Keep up the good work

I was only here for a few minutes but I liked what I saw. There are six hard courts in fantastic shape plus three clay courts that I've never even stepped on until yesterday. The best part is the price, as I was told that since it's late in the season, it's half price right now. Unfortunately, this is only a three-season facility (no dome), but I'm used to not playing tennis in the winter. Tennis balls don't bounce well when it's minus 15 anyway.

My neighbourhood tennis club. Unionville tennis club is literally in my backyard. so the location is fantastic! for me that is. i love this community club. it is a private club but not for profit. it is entirely run by a group of dedicated volunteers most of whom have lived in Unionville all their lives. they spend a crazy number of hours FREE just to keep this club running well and keeping it affordable for all. The early bird membership for adults for the entire season (April to October) is only $120 and no court fee!!! yet, the club has a full time MONITOR to organize and facilitate court booking
