The simple answer to this is that we educate people about converting gas-powered boats and yachts into electric powered boats and yachts. We even sell a few "plug and play" options that we've sourced specifically to make your conversion easier. Just as Tesla Motors has done for the automotive industry and Zero Motorcycles has done for the motorcycle industry, we believe we can do this for the boating community.
Good question but an easy one for us to answer. At Bluefin we back our words with action by converting our very own gas-powered yachts into fully electric seagoing vessels. We've already done it once with "The Original Bluefin" and we are in the process of doing it again. You can even watch our progress by following our blog.

The Bluefin adventure began back in 2010 in Vancouver at the Quayside Marina aboard the Volare. Keen on finding a clean, sustainable solution to the continuing pollution of our harbours and oceans, Michael Whatley set out to convert the first marine electric prototype - the Original Bluefin. A classic 1978 Ericson 34 foot sailboat with an original atomic 4 gas engine.
Ten years ago, we set out to provide boat owners with both a compelling and sustainable alternative to gasoline and diesel engines as a means of propulsion. Like Telsa Motors, we opted to provide electric propulsion as that alternative.
Although our electric sailboat was a success as a first conversion, our best chance to prove to the world that electric propulsion was viable for mass market came with our second conversion of a 6 ton, 30 ft cabin cruiser - 'eTolly'.The true measure in success will be to develop an electric V-8 replacement kit with the goal of going farther and faster.

For a boat using an electric motor, consider the battery as your "fuel tank." Therefore, the more battery power available the more "fuel" available. Range will ultimately depend heavily on the type of cruising you plan on doing and how many 'battery banks' you have available. Wind, water current and water conditions also affect your time on the water.
Saietta Inboard Drive systems uses a permanent magnet motor set up in a gearing console made from stainless steel and is regulated by a 2-quadrant motor controller. I'd like to convert my 34' tollycraft tri cabin (1977) with dual gas engines to an electric system. I'd love to get estimates on cost, timeline, etc. if possible!
