Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve that causes peripheral visual field loss, which can then lead to total vision loss at the end stage of the disease process. As we age, annual eye exams support the early detection and prevention of vision problems. Diabetic eye examinations are crucial for individuals with systemic diabetes because this condition can affect the eyes.
Dr Rana Taji has provided attentive, compassionate care during a recent flare-up of dry eye complications. At my initial visit with Dr. Taji, 6 months ago, she prescribed 3 specific things to address Dry Eye and Cogan's Corneal Dystrophy - both areas she'd specialized in and with which she had considerable experience.

Glaucoma is often asymptomatic in early stages, which is why it is crucial to have regular eye examinations. Early detection is key to preventing progression of this disease.
Dry eye disease is a chronic disease that gradually progresses over time. Signs can be seen in the eye much sooner than when a patient begins to feel symptoms. Risk factors for dry eye disease include poor diet, lifestyle and environmental factors. In addition, we are seeing more and more dry eye disease that is a result of the use of digital devices.
Comprehensive exams looking at the whole visual system, including but not limited to visual exams, prescribing of spectacles and contact lenses, assessment of the alignment of the visual system, and the health of the front and back of the eyes. Objectively and subjectively assessing any changes to your vision through corrective methods.

I recently experiencing some issues with my left eye and was seeing ghosting of images and monocular diplopia (double vision). It was likely associated with impact and past trauma that caused some issues with the cornea and tear film stability.
Toronto Medical Eye went above and beyond in helping we though this challenging time. From assisting with additional referrals to emergency assistance, they made sure that my eye was healing and helped me function.
Their recommendation to proceed with a cornea stem cell treatment, PROKERA, ultimately helped to recover my vision and quality of life.

During my recent visit, Dr. Taji addressed my concerns and provided a thorough examination.
Once completed, she explained exactly what was going on with my eye and eased my worries.

Before I began a course of dry eye treatments with Dr. Taji and the team at TMEA, I felt hopeless. Fantastic visit! Everyone in the office was very polite and professional. They have excellent health and hygiene protocols. The treatment rooms were very clean and I felt very comfortable throughout my appointment from the eye exam to the retinal digital imagining. My appointment was with Dr Rana Taji and she did an excellent job at explaining the results of my eye exam. She was very personable, professional and empathetic.
