Tuxedo Tennis Club existed prior to the City of Winnipeg Amalgamation in 1972. At that time, there were four shale courts. It was upgraded to six courts prior to 1980 with some City funding combined with Club funds. The original clubhouse was a redeployed hockey warm-up shack with no water available or washroom facilities.
In 2008 Tuxedo Tennis Club acquired the Short Game Golf Centre building located at Taylor and Waverley in Winnipeg and made arrangements to move it to the existing site. The building cost the Club nothing. A tax receipt for donation of the building was issued by Tennis Canada. The Club signed a 25-year lease with the City at that time.
