My mother suffered a severe stroke and when her health improved, we knew the wait for a bed in a high intensive rehabilitation facility would take too long time wise given the way our medical system is set up. We decided to jump start her rehabilitation needs while still in the hospital by hiring On The Go Physio.
Services
Traditional physiotherapy and occupational therapy have been based in hospitals or clinics but we believe that treatment within the comfort of your home, is best. Our physiotherapist or occupational therapist will come to you to assess your movement and function within your environment. We will see what problems you are facing and how our treatment can help you to function and move better.
Neurological rehabilitation is the retraining of your brain to perform tasks after an accident or illness compromises your physical or psychological abilities. Through a combination of in-home and in-clinic training, you'll learn to mitigate and manage the neurological, behavioural and social effects caused by the remapping of your brain.
Based on your child's needs, our pediatric therapist may choose to focus on one or a variety of areas such as enhancing and restoring muscular strength, increasing range of motion and joint mobility or improving posture and balance. This can be achieved through exercise therapy, balance and coordination training, and an emphasis on gross and fine motor skills.
Regaining mobility and motor function are prioritized in this two-hour session. One hour will address hand and upper extremities and the other hour will be directed towards lower extremities. This program is typically structured to include 2 hours per day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks. Your therapist will design your schedule and specific program based on the severity of your symptoms and the aggressiveness of your goals.
This program is ideal for patients requiring an extended recovery period from a neurological, orthopedic, cardiac or complex medical condition. Low tolerance rehab involves low impact movements over an extended period of time and is centered around helping you comfortably regain functional independence and confidence.
