Schwabe's Automotive Center is a family-owned and operated auto repair shop serving Southeast Edmonton from the same location since 1985. We're proud to have earned a reputation in the community for being honest and reliable, and fixing vehicles right the first time. Harry Schwabe started the business after working as a journeyman auto technician at Esso for many years, and his son, Rick, joined him in the shop around 2000.
At Schwabe's Automotive Center, we focus on providing general auto repair services for domestic and import vehicles, handling everything from maintenance basics like fluid changes to the complexities of diagnostics and engine rebuilds. We also do fleet work for many Edmonton area businesses. Our Journeyman technicians always provide honest evaluations and realistic estimates for repairs, and we will never suggest an unnecessary service.
Unless your vehicle requires premium gasoline, filling up your vehicle with high-octane gas is a waste of money. The premium gas doesn't boost your gas mileage or performance. If you're not sure what grade works best for your vehicle, your owner's manual will tell you. You can also ask your mechanic what grade to use.

They charged me $70 just to tell me I had the wrong tires. Unbeknownst to me, the autobody last year that misplaced my seasonal tires. I was charged half an hours worth of labour for them to figure that the tires did not fit. The front counter employee still charged me even after admitting they should have checked to see if the tire size was correct. So now I have 2 problems rather than 1. Its rather expensive considering its competitors.

I have been taking my Dodge Nitro here for the past 2 years any time it needed repairs. Blair is always straight forward about what needs to be done and the cost before any work is started. And the last time I was in, he was candid about how my car wasn’t worth repairing anymore. I appreciate his advice (I recently got a new car), and I recommend him and the Schwabe team to anyone who needs work on their car.

Just picked my car up from here, this is the second time I’ve had work done at schwabes. And there’s a very good reason I keep going back!
Always quality service with a smiling face (yes, you can see it even with a mask)
So far, Blair, Shirley and Al have been a delight, answering my many questions, or promptly getting back to me when checking for the right answer.
I’m a young woman, it’s always a little nerve wrecking getting my car taken in, sometimes I can get taken advantage of or ridiculed for maybe not being the best at maintenance 😂
I never get that here. My options are always

Candid, personable and great at explaining inspection findings to me at a level I understood. Based on automotive work I've had done before, their prices are very competitive too, and the life time warranty on the parts they install is appreciated! Their hours are also better than most automotive shops I've been to as well

Schwabes is amazing. My husband has been going there since he was in high school (so like 25 years haha) and so we've gone there since we got married. they are always courteous and do a really good job of explaining what they did to the vehicle and what they found. Their pricing is fair and their work is top notch. Their customer service is amazing they even have vacuumed out the back seats of my minivan filled with kid related crumbs haha. Now that's customer service! .

This is just a great auto repair shop. Sure, it sells good tires and stuff, but it is the way that they work with customers that really makes unique. Clients like me keep coming back, with their friends and family following them in. It's kind of a well-kept secret in the neighbourhood. We want it to do well, but not so well that they change anything!

As a female who knows relatively nothing about vehicles I'm always worried about visiting a different/new shop out of fear of being swindled or finessed into paying more due to my vehicular ignorance. I really feel like the people at Schwabe's are not in it to screw anyone over, perform sub-par work or over-charge. I've brought my vehicle to them three times for small things since my original mechanic went out of business and every single time they've had my vehicle ready within the same day [or next], they've always called me to confirm what needs to be done and they provide a cost estimate which

I have always had a hard time trusting mechanics after several bad experiences. Now I think I have found a shop I can trust and enthusiastically recommend to others. The customer service ethic here is second to none. They take the time to explain the mechanical problem, and how they are going to fix it and the estimates are accurate. I was also given good advice about not wasting any money with potential future issues with my 20 year old car.

I needed to get new tires for my car, and Trevor was great about pricing out some options for me. Once we realized that one of my rims was cracked, he tried to look for a replacement. Unfortunately he couldn't find one so he went through the options with me of staying with 20" rims or switching to 17" ones. I trusted his judgement on what would… be most cost effective in the long run. He was quick to do the work, and I've been happy with the new tires so far. I highly recommend going to Schwabe's for tires, and I will be going back for any mechanical work as well.

They really are amazing. An awesome honest and helpful family shop. Everything about my visit was exceptional. The speed of getting in, the ride home, the phone call to advise what is happening, the quality of service and more. And the price was better than I was expecting, especially based on what others had said it would cost. They checked it all over and in the end my truck is running great. There really is no need to go anywhere else. Schwabes rocks!!

I took my van there at 1:30 because I had a whiny siren sound coming from my engine. I didn't have an appointment but stopped in, to see if they could just listen to it. Hoping it wasn't something major. One of the mechanics came out right away, and had a listen. After a short discussion of possibilities, he decided it would be best to put it up… on the hoist and have a better look. The best mechanics I've met by far! They take the time to explain things to you, they'll answer any questions you have, and the most important part? They don't overcharge for work they didn't technically do.
I've worked in the car service industry before, and I can guarantee mechanics bill WAY more hours than they actually use. But not the guys at Schwabe's. Take my word for it.
