Bursting at the seams with intricate old printing presses, at first glance our studio might look more like a museum than a working studio. But it doesn't feel like a museum - it's a get-your-hands dirty, have-a-good-laugh kind of place, thanks to our passionate team of makers and a very charming toddler (the real boss around here).
So many reasons! It requires storied old machines and precise problem-solving. It's wonderfully tactile. It's made with care by people who truly love it. And it's romantic. We mean romantic in a typewriter, film-camera, handwritten-letter kind of way - but we make wedding invites and greeting cards, so there's plenty of hearts-and-flowers romantic happening here too.
Come to us with an idea, a page ripped out of a magazine, a doodle on a napkin - and we'll figure out how to bring it to life in the most beautiful way possible. To complement our letterpress printing services, we offer hot foil stamping, coloured edging, die-cutting, paper drilling, bindery and stitching.
We do just about anything; if it can be printed, we'll print it - invitations, greeting cards, calendars, coasters, posters. To us, each project represents much more than just an invitation, or a card, or a notebook. It represents a challenge - which is one of our favourite things about letterpress.
We believe that everyone has an innate capacity for creativity. One of the great joys of what we do is connecting people with that capacity, and seeing their pride and satisfaction when they hold the finished product in their hands. It gets us every time. Our workshops range from letterpress to bookbinding to origami to calligraphy.

Porchlight Press is a total gem in East Vancouver! I bought my Christmas cards from them this year. There was a great selection of thoughtful and locally designed cards to choose from. They space is also a cool location to visit if you are in the neighbourhood - beautiful vintage printing machines and heritage building vibes.

I'm a graphic designer, so finding a great printer to build a relationship with that can bring my designs to life for my clients in the best way possible is so important. I was recently a client with my own wedding invitations so I've been on both sides. I highly recommend Porchlight for anyone who values attention to detail, high quality and a great experience.
