Oak Counselling Services Society is a non-profit organization established in 1973. Our goal is to provide affordable, secular and quality counselling to residents of Greater Vancouver. The affairs of Oak Counselling Society are managed by a part-time Executive Director who sits on the Board as a non-voting member.
He or she recruits counsellors and supervisors, advises the Board and manages other administrative duties, along with managing intake and client placement. Our counsellors volunteer their services and come from a wide range of trainings, cultures and experiences. They have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or related disciplines and subscribe to a recognized Code of Ethics.

Services
On occasion we also offer a variety of personal growth, support groups, and educational groups. These will be posted from time to time on our website. If you have questions about these, or are interested in organizing a group on a specific topic, please contact us by email here. Oak Counselling arranges with the Unitarian Church of Vancouver to use rooms in its Hewett Centre.

We are always interested in talking with qualified counsellors and supervisors who can volunteer from our offices on 49th Avenue and Oak Street in Vancouver. We try our best to respond within one week. There are a number of other tasks for which we need volunteers - these have to do with special events, mailing, membership, helping to set up groups, etc.
If you have questions that are not answered below please don't hesitate to contact the Executive Director of Oak Counselling Services. Our counsellors follow basic accepted concepts of counselling but counsellors tend to specialize in specific approaches. You will need to answer this question yourself when you meet with a counsellor and discuss your concerns.
