We categorize our stylists into three groups; Executive, Advanced and Graduate. Stylists achieve Executive status through education and experience in a variety of settings including community and fashion work, advanced education courses and teaching and mentoring stylists in the salon.
Advanced Stylists have completed advanced education and demonstrated commitment and passion to their craft while developing their client relationships and mentoring abilities.Graduate Stylists are the foundation of our salon and we invest heavily in educating and coaching our Graduate stylists through an extensive 120+ hour program.

Services
Our haircuts are customized to each guest's styling needs and hair goals. Haircuts start with a consultation with your hair stylist, followed by a scalp massage and includes a customized shampoo and conditioning service followed by the haircut, and blow dry. Please note, if you have longer, denser hair your service price may increase depending on the amount of time scheduled for your appointment.
Fish Hair Salon is situated in a beautifully-restored heritage building on the edge of Victoria's historic Old Town. Designed with experience in mind, our salon is rich in generous natural light with overheight 1.5 storey ceilings, our salon has cutting and styling stations for 15 stylists, separate wash and haircolour processing areas, along with a full retail store, stocked by our sister company, Tacklebox Beauty.
Owner, Donna Dyer had a clear vision and a keen desire to provide her guests with an exceptional salon experience after seeing an opportunity working in several salons during her time in Edmonton, and then Victoria. The hair stylists here are amazing and this review should not reflect poorly on them. The stylists are why this salon is one of the best in Victoria.
Unfortunately, the owner is an unprofessional bully. Do not go here if you have an invisible illness and might have to reschedule last minute. She has no sympathy and will publicly embarrass you.
I had a very high-risk pregnancy and had to call to cancel and reschedule twice in a row because I was vomiting uncontrollably and too weak to drive. Plus I'm assuming having to be sick during a hair appointment isn't ideal? When I finally got to have my

Before.....This is what the hair looks like when I rush out the door and have no product in my hair after shower. Nevertheless, having Antonia Fantillo of Fish Hair Salon here in Victoria BC as my new-stylist post COVID in August 2020 has been a life changing experience. She knows curly hair and how to tame it. Found this place by googling "best salon Victoria" and it is ranked high for good reason! The space has so much old charm and character. It is very clean, covid safe, and steady busy but did not feel crowded at all. I have nightmare hair and Sydney turned my vision into a reality! She provided extra tips for care and offered free services if I was unhappy at all with my cut, or just needed to come back for a tweak. The prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to see Sydney for all my future hair needs!

There are a lot of really great things about this salon. My hairstylist was friendly and knowledgeable, the space is bright, modern, and clean, and you can tell that the individuals working here are professionals who care about what they do. However, I paid upwards of $300 for foils and a trim (this is a lot of money) and I found that at first it looked really great but once the toner washed out, there were huge sections of my hair that hadn't been coloured. I’ve been a client of fish hair salon for close to 12 years. What’s great about fish is their stylists are trained at different levels and it reflects in the price. I see one of their master stylists Sandra and would highly recommend her. She does an excellent job. Over the years I’ve seen many stylists and can’t say I’ve been happy with any of them. If you’re looking for a professional hair stylist, this is the place.

Love the talent of the stylist that Ive been seeing but they have decided not to shampoo or blow dry because of covid yet still charging full price. At close to $90 for full service than expecting clients to wash and blowdry / style our own hair yet still charge full price is quite the scam.
It really seems like a cash grab and taking advantage of the situation.
Ive found a salon that still offers full service at reasonable pricing.

I have wavy hair that easily gets frizzy and usually see Antonia or Wendy. They are amazing!! Today I just saw Wendy and she did a great job with cutting and styling my hair, working with its natural curl. I also enjoyed our conversation and the scalp massage.
Salon is pricey but they have a student discount on Tuesdays. Plus they take their COVID protocols seriously and I felt safe.

APPALLING "customer service".
I travelled all the way from Seattle for a highlights appointment with James (he is great), only to be bluntly informed by the receptionist upon arrival that they wrote my appointment down for 2 hours earlier and that I had "missed it". In fact, I had called two weeks prior to confirm my appointment time. Having to arrange travel and childcare around the appointment, I was careful to even triple check the appointment time.

The service is absolutely terrible. I've been here 3 times to get a full hair cut and many times for a bang trim. The first time was great and I was happy to have found a new salon that I liked. The next two times were absolutely terrible. I'll recount below, hopefully this deters you:
1) I arrived 15-20min early and then the girl told me my stylist was running late like 30-40min late. Ok, I understand this happens once in a while. But it would've been nice if they phoned me and told me it would be substantially late. I had booked time off work so I could get down there on time

My first experience at Fish Hair salon was awesome, but since then, my hairdresser has left and I have been coming back to Fish hair salon to look for a replacement. I have not found it.
The last time I went there, I got charged 200$ for a cut and red highlights. I wanted something a bit bold to balance my conservative style of clothes. The hairdresser said that they would become brighter after a couple of days. Three weeks later, they are still not bright enough. You can only seen them under bright lights. He was also very rough and kept pulling my hair while cutting.
I lived in Vancouver now

I went to get my hair cut and I saw one of the "top Stylists" Rhino. First of all he barely even washed my hair I swear he just put a bit of shampoo on the ends sprayed water on the ends. Anyway I explained to him that my hair is really curly and hard to straighten. I wanted a lot of layers with the shortest starting at about the base of my skull. So he got to work blow drying my hair straight and adding way too much gunk to my hair he didn't even bother to flat iron it, which my hair NEEDS otherwise it curls right back up which it was all underneath when i got home. Sam did my hair, and did a FANTASTIC job. Be sure to ask specifically for the stylist that is most experienced in the type of hair and cut you are seeking. I don't think Fish is consistent yet, and that makes it slightly pricy - if you can guarantee a great cut and style, you can set your price. That said, my second cut was vastly superior to the first.
I appreciate Fish making it right, and I will be back.
