Food is underwhelming with limited selections. Not sure if the chef is adjusting the taste to meet local preferences but I have never tasted Indian food so bland before.

The food was fine, it was a lot of same-same in terms of flavours, but for a $15 vegan buffet, I can't complain.
Where I felt they dropped a couple stars was that I suspect I was racially profiled? My sister and I were asked to pay upfront at the till before we were seated (we're Asian). I'm actually fine with that IF I didn't feel we were the only ones who were asked to do so. I witnessed multiple other all-white tables get seated throughout the night without first being charged at the till. The only other clients who were charged at the front were the ones requesting takeout, and another small

Excellent place to enjoy buffet and also being healthy at the same time. Their food was so healthy. They had chicken and other vegetables. Their soup was amazing. The seating arrangement was very good. I went on Wednesday when the rate was $15 per person. Overall enjoyed my dinner.

Fabulous food, especially the Tuesday evening vegan buffet. Best deal in town at $15. Great flavors, gentle spicing. I love supporting an independent, family run place. Yum!

Narayanni's did a great job with our curb side pick up. Fresh and filling !!

Strict measures were taken by Narayanni to ensure distance and safety measures were in place. Including wiping down the debit terminal after each transaction.

Narayanni's is no-contest my favourite restaurant in the city. The standard of the food and the professionalism of the owners/staff has maintained a peak standard ever since I began going years ago. The curry chicken and butternut squash are highlights for me and the deserts on the weekends are top-notch. It also has an ambience all its own and is kept meticulously clean. There are also plenty of vegan and gluten free options (exclusively vegan night on Tuesdays). Top quality all the way.

Edit: I've reduced my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. The last few times I went, the food was much saltier and spicier than usual, and they don't have butternut squash on vegan nights anymore.

Probably one of my most favourite restaurants ever. Their food is all homemade, and they use local, organic ingredients whenever possible. You can tell that it is all good, clean food when you taste it. Everything is cooked to perfection and perfectly spiced. I love that none of the dishes are too greasy or heavy, even the fried foods.
My favourites are the butternut squash, mushroom and chickpeas

It took me a LONG time, but I finally made it to Narayanni's! I went with my roomies on vegan night, and it was a stellar deal - all you can eat for $15. That includes appetizers such as soup and salad and chips and dips (like hummus and cucumber dip). I was obsessed with the cucumber dip, as it helps cool a hot curry. As for the main courses, they consisted of curries, and I LOVE spicy curry, and so it was perfect for me. My fave dish was the mushroom curry - so hearty and delicious. But there were also lots of vegetables, such as green beans and chickpeas and cauliflower. My only warning

Reasonable sized Indian place kind of hidden just off Whyte; looks like a barn from the outside, but inside it's cheerful and cosy. They do a $15 cash-only vegan buffet on Tuesdays, which is a great deal and very delicious; and on Wednesday and Thursday they do a regular non-vegan buffet for $20, which is also good. Friday through Sunday is a special 5-course buffet, which I haven't tried yet (I believe they're closed Mondays). Tuesday through Thursday, the buffet has generous quantities of fresh papadums, a salad, one or two soups, a couple of rice dishes, and about 4 main dishes

Absolutely amazing Indian food!

Our group had no problems accommodating dietary restrictions with plenty of vegan and meat options to suit everyone.

The service is impeccable and ALL dishes are made in house by this month we and father duo, and the table service is provided by their adult children.

It was wonderful to be able to experience this perfect home cooking family environment, I absolutely recommend everyone try it!

Our favorite, go to restaurant. It's super healthy, delicious and fresh. Buffet is daily and ranges in price from $15 cash on vegan Tuesdays, to $20 Wed/Thurs and $30 for the weekend.
The space is beautifully decorated and is big and open. The buffet is in the middle of the room in a circle.
The food is different than other indian restaurants as they don't use cream or a lot of meat. there's always a nice assortment of veggie dishes plus a few chicken. Weekend has other meat choices and desserts.
We go almost weekly, and its always good. Our 3 year old loves it now (after

Let's start this off with the most important point: you need to ask for the naan!

The buffet was delicious, but I could not understand how an Indian buffet could have no naan. Then about a week later, my friend mentioned that you need to ASK THEM FOR NAAN. My life changed at that moment.

I went to their buffet ($30 per person) on a Saturday night with a group. There was a decent selection of buffet items both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Also, the dessert buffet was so scrumptious! I definitely walked out of there feeling full and satisfied. However, as a vegetarian, I am looking forward

One of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton.
It's a family business that deserves a good support.
When you go there, you always feel welcomed.
Nice atmosphere and the quality of the food is very good.
For a buffet, I think they need to have more choices for food. Sometimes it feels the choices are limited.
But the place is clean, with kind and polite staff and the food is good.
This is a place that I go to once in a while and if you like spicy food, I recommend this restaurant.

I came here for a friend's birthday celebration during their infamous Vegan Buffet Night. For $15 you get the most amazing vegan spread that fills you up happily and then some. The flavours of each dish were outstanding and you can really tell that "Mama" puts a lot of love into her cooking. All 8 of us ladies enjoyed our meals and experience immensely!

The restaurant was packed full with tables rotating through the night (we were there for a long time chatting and drinking wine). The restaurant is clean and warm.

I look forward to my next visit on a Tuesday night!

This place is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton, possibly my favourite restaurant ever. I am so impressed - they get 10/10 for pretty much everything.

The food is absolutely delicious and is always cooked to perfection. I especially love Vegan Night on Tuesdays, and it is such an amazing deal for $15. I don't ordinarily like vegan food, but Narayanni's is just that good. Everything is cooked fresh from scratch every day, and they use quality ingredients (organic whenever possible). The butternut squash, the spinach fritters, the wedding salad, and the curry chicken are to die for.

What can I say, the Indian/South African cuisine they serve here is wonderful. I love all the great vegetable based options. This is a buffet restaurant where I don't often overeat because instead, I like to savor every bite. I adore the pistachio chai tea: it's SO good that even people who don't like tea sometimes like it! I love the fact that the menu is expansive but not too large that I over do things horribly.

The building is historic and really neat. I need to remember this restaurant more and come here more often. It has a real homey feel and the staff are so great at their

Went here last night after not dining here for a few months (and not sure why because I love it here!). Four of us booked a reservation right at the opening time of 5:30 pm, instantly ordered some roti for all of us (you have to try) and drinks. My friends were happy about the alcoholic options and one of them tried an iced pistachio chai which I would HIGHLY recommend because it was the talk of the dinner.

As a vegan I am always happy to see at least half the beautiful buffet is vegan friendly and everything was incredibly delicious. They even brought me an extra veggie side when I requested

Narayanni's has been around for 9 years but I've only encountered it recently. Last month, I came down to their restaurant off Whyte Ave to try out their Indian food, which has South African influences. They have recently begun offering a four course lunch buffet in addition to their current dinner buffets. Their lunch buffet is only $12 while dinner buffets are $25. Definitely a great price considering the authentic quality and tastiness of the food. The interior of the restaurant is vibrant and spacious. It's family owned and very family oriented. Narayanni's, a Whyte Avenue staple since 2010, serves up some of the finest curry I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. While the food is primarily Indian cuisine (as a result of immigration in the late 19th/early 20th centuries), it comes with a delightful South African twist: fewer dairy-based items, roti instead of naan bread, and a subtle European spin on items like the braised kale and cabbage. It's the kind of cuisine that will leave you feeling content and full-warm and fuzzy-without weighing down your stomach with starches.

They have a neat selection of South African wines

Narayanni's is a little off the beaten path. Just past the tracks on Whyte Ave and a block south, you'll discover a restaurant that specializes in South African-Indian cuisine. Just look for the random white building with blue lettering. This is homemade, buffet style food so bring your appetite.

They are only open in the evenings with a different price range depending on the day. We came on a Wednesday and the place was decently busy. Looks like they just bumped up their prices in April ($5.00 increase). Bummer.
