Janice Sgro Associates Optometrists
During this unprecedented time, we at Dr. Sgro and Associates, consider the health and well-being of patients and staff to be a top priority. We are sanitizing and deep cleaning our clinic regularly throughout the day and every day, especially any contact areas. All staff will be using protective equipment to reduce transmission of the virus.

We are properly washing our hands regularly and are screening all patients for any symptoms. Our doctors are devoted to helping you see your best and look your best. We understand everyone is unique. We strive to provide full comprehensive eye care to meet your individual needs based on your lifestyle.
Services
We recommend annual eye examinations for our patients to ensure they are seeing their best long term. Even if you have not noticed vision changes, eye diseases such as glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy can often manifest without visual symptoms. Those 19 years or younger, or 65 years old and older are covered with a valid OHIP card for a full, annual eye examination.
Our office carries contact lenses from leading manufacturers. Whether it's your first time wearing contact lenses or you are an experienced wearer, our doctors will make sure you are comfortable with inserting and removing your lenses in a safe manner. Contact lenses can be single vision, toric or multifocal.
Our office offers visual field testing for early detection of glaucoma and neurological conditions. It is one of the useful tools your doctor uses to detect any changes in your vision. Generally, most people pay attention to central vision such as when you are reading or watching television. Occasionally, certain eye diseases can affect the peripheral of your visual field.
Optical Coherence Tomography helps provide diagnostic information for a comprehensive range of retinal pathology. OCT enables your doctor to clearly see internal structures inside the eye so problems can be identified and treated before they progress such as macular degeneration or ocular cancers.
When the clear lens within your eye becomes cloudy and opaque, it is called a cataract. Cataracts vary from extremely small areas of cloudiness to large opaque areas that cause a noticeable blurring of vision. Cataracts develop without pain or redness. Cataracts are a function of aging and are most often found in people over the age of 60.

About 2 years ago I had an emergency and she was able to fit me in during the evening because of the issue. Dr. Sgro was great, found the issue very quickly and we did some tests just to check out any potential issues. She’s very thorough. To address the comments below, as with any Dr that charges for their services, if you’re concerned about pricing you should ask before consenting.

I do not recommend this place. I found the Dr. rude and condescending when you ask questions. Never going back. I only gave it a 1 cause the receptionist is nice.

Really bad service. I went in for a vision test and explained to her that I already know what brand of contact I like after years of trial and error. She asked me if I wanted to try them in my new prescription to make sure it was correct, then proceeded to charge me for a lens fitting. She also tried to scare me into spending extra money by telling me I'm getting glaucoma (I'm in my 20s), after agreeing to one of the 2 tests (the cheaper one) she told me that I don't have it and don't need to worry.

Very bad experience. I have been rushed through the procedures without any detailed explanation of the expected charges. They made me do the payments for the procedures I am not suppose to undergo. I will not recommend this place if you are looking for a great professional service.
