Located in Barrie, Casano's Italian Restaurant is known for the best authentic Italian food and catering. Italians believe that life's problems can be solved by coming together at the table - 'Mangia che ti passa'. This means 'Eat and you'll feel better'. Johnny and Elena Casano wanted to work together in business doing something they loved in a traditional way.
In 1992 at 35 Anne Street South in Barrie, their dream came true. They opened Casano's Italian Foods, nothing big, nothing fancy, just a clean, comfortable place serving good food for a fair price. This meant homemade food daily with both the freshest ingredients and the joy of cooking. Elena continues to operate the restaurant after the passing of Johnny in 2014.

I had been to Casano's many years ago when it was run by the husband and wife. The food was delicious and fresh made pasta, the veal was tender and flavourful. I went there recently and was very disappointed. The veal sandwich was not good at all chewy ,tough and no flavour, the coating cameoff after one bite. The sauce was cold and no spice, mushroom and peppers were also cold and greasy. The people were still very nice the mother and her daughter. I have had Mondos and it is far better. I will try Casano's once more and give them the chance that it was an off day.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch yesterday for the first time. The gentleman who was working gave us a warm welcome when we arrived, and after we told him we had never been there before he showed us what he had on the hot table and also what other items he had that were available for lunch. I decided on the lasagna which came with one meatball, and my husband had the pasta with sausage. We also purchased a can of iced tea, and a small carton of milk to drink. The food was DELICIOUS! The portions were large, the pasta wasn't over cooked and the sauce was so good my husband said he should

Disappointing pasta and meatballs with sauce. Sauce tasted like it came out of a can and literally dumped stewing tomatoes over the pasta.The meatballs with the pasta was also bland, no flavor whatsoever. I will NOT be back. EVER. First and last time there. I will stick to what's good. Mondo's or The Italian Bakery, you can't go wrong with those two establishments.
