The Men's Therapy Centre is here to help and support any man who has experienced emotional, sexual or physical trauma as a child or an adult. Experiencing a trauma is distressing and can impact every part of your life. Sometimes you may have lived with a trauma for years or perhaps this is something that happened to you recently.

When you first contact the Men's Therapy Centre you will be seen for what we call an 'intake session'. This is a time for you to talk in confidence with someone who can support you and help you decide what you want to do next. Below are some of the services we offer to masculine identified persons.
Services
We are here to support to any man*: cis, gay, bi-sexual, trans, non-binary, 2spirit, queer, gender fluid+, who has experienced emotional, physical or sexual trauma in childhood or as an adult. When you survive a trauma or childhood abuse, it can affect every aspect of your life; work, relationships and your health.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Board Member at the Men's Therapy Centre. Our board is comprised of a dynamic group of dedicated community members who are passionate about men's mental health, supporting survivors of trauma, and addressing gender-based violence. Our board operates on a governance level meaning the focus of our activities is political, legal, financial, and ethical oversight of MTC's operations.
These are the first people you will see when you come to the Men's* Therapy Centre; there is no charge to see a Victim Service worker. Victim Services workers are here to offer you short-term emotional and practical support. Help you apply for Crime Victim Assistance funding for ongoing counselling, should you not be able to pay for yourself.
A therapist can meet with you on a one-and-one basis. They are trained and experienced in helping men* who have experienced trauma, including childhood sexual abuse. All the therapists at the Men's Therapy Centre are professional counsellors with a Masters degree in counselling or social work. They are all registered with a professional counselling body in BC.
Criminal behaviour has been linked to the experience of abuse and trauma in childhood. Our clinic is looking at this connection and how trauma therapy/counselling may help to reduce further crime and involvement in the criminal justice system among young men* aged 16-30. This program involves an intake and assessment session, 15 sessions of individual trauma therapy/counselling, as well as a post-program assessment session.

The Men's Therapy Centre helped me many years ago — back in 2004. I recently attended their Open House at the new location on Fisgard. This is a tremendous organization that offers highly qualified and dignified clinical counselling as well as offering support group therapy to men who have experienced trauma.
