For the health and safety of all I am currently seeing new and existing clients, both individuals and couples, remotely. I am using an extremely secure video platform Zoom (it is very user friendly) or we can discuss other options that work for you. The best way to contact me is via email at info@counsellingnanaimo.com or leave a voice mail on my office line (250-244-2929) I am checking both frequently.

In my Nanaimo counselling practice I specialize in marriage and relationship couselling, individual therapy, depression couselling, sibling groups and addiction counselling. I work with clients from adolescence to the elderly. Although I maintain a broad based general practice, I have expertise (a combination of extensive training and experience) in various areas.

In my Nanaimo counselling practice I see couples, individuals, sibling groups and various combinations of family members as required. I work with clients from adolescence to the elderly. Although I maintain a broad based general practice, I have expertise (a combination of extensive training and experience) in a few areas.
What Brings Couples into Couples Counseling? I often hear from couples that are in despair - frightened that their relationship is beyond hope. Their communications have broken down, trust has eroded and sex is almost nonexistent. I also frequently see fundamentally strong couples that may be facing a specific crisis and want the aid of a professional.
As a part of my practice I also offer a variety of consulting services. I am available for program development with not for profit, government and corporate organizations. I can offer immediate intervention or longer term problem solving. Issues may include grief and bereavement, conflict resolution or team building.
Some extended health plans cover counselling sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Consult with your provider and if there are problems I may be able to assist you in requesting an amendment to their "limitations for service providers." Payment for all services can be made via cheque, cash or e-transfer.
We will explore your reasons for coming to therapy, generate some realistic goals and establish a clear agreement regarding fees. Within this session we should have a good sense of our ability to work together. All the information you share in writing, verbally or over the telephone will be carefully protected and kept securely stored.

Even in the unusual circumstances of a global pandemic, this therapist has found a way to extend her professional help to those who need it. Meeting for a session via ZOOM may sound like it lacks the warmth and immediacy of a session in her office, but it doesn't. She is just as interested and thoughtful and helps us turn our focus on solutions and coping skills instead of remaining stuck in our confusion and unhappiness. We are grateful that she extends herself to those of us who need support in our uncertainty and need guidance to see our problems with more clarity and acceptance.

In my opinion from going there 4 or 5 times - Hates men! And will give advice; in most circumstances against the man; even when the woman was brought there because she is the abuser. Never have I felt so ganged up on!

Janice Bell is highly skilled in guiding the clients (my husband and me) past the surface aggravations and to the core of our fears and needs. From there we have been able to acknowledge our separate states of being, our individual perspectives, our unique life experiences. We were able to gain insights of ourselves and understanding of the other. That led us next, to acceptance. What seemed like unsolvable problems were not what was really troubling us. Janice was able to help us construct new perspectives and new behaviors that allowed us to build upon the love we had for one another and create
