We get it, we really do: it's totally natural to want to wear those beautiful pieces 24-7. Unfortunately, that sort of constant wear can take its toll on your favourites! While it's true that some earrings and rings can avoid the worst effects of being worn day in and day out, that's not true for most pieces, so to keep your jewellery looking great, we recommend developing a care process for your pieces.
Finding your ring size is a fairly simple task, but considerations should be made. If you are choosing a wider ring or band you may want to go up in size for comfort, as a wider band will take up more surface area on the finger and can feel snug. Thinner rings or bands should be true to your size. Your dominant hand can also be 1/4 to 1/2 a size larger than you non-dominant hand.

If you have a piece of jewellery that is in need of a general repair, please bring it into any Magpie Jewellery and we will be happy to have one of our trusted onsite goldsmiths examine the piece and give you an estimate.
No, not necessarily. The price will be dictated by the materials you choose and the design. It is more often the case that already made pieces are more costly than one we could design for you in-house. We take every opportunity to use recycled metals in our custom design. Once refined and purified, these metals have the same composition as precious metal mined directly from the earth.
Yellow or Rose gold filled jewellery is a good quality, more affordable alternative to solid gold. Also known as "rolled gold" or "gold overlay", it's easily confused with gold plating. The key difference is that gold filled is solid gold mechanically fused to the under metal, comprising at least 5% of overall weight.

My experience with Magpie for my fiancees custom engagement ring was AMAZING! I worked with Jude, their in-house CAD jewelry designer who was patient and listened to all of my requests (and I had a lot!) throughout the entire process. She creates a 3D model of the ring from your wish list and tunes it until it is one of a kind. I (now we) couldn't be happier with the result. Thank you!

I was searching for a special style of a diamond ring in white gold. Found Magpie Jewelry and very happy I did! They will use your own gold, weigh it and use the dollars from it towards a custom diamond piece. They have many special designers working for them. I love this store ! Wonderful customer service!!! We were looking for a gift for my daughter’s fifteen year-old friend and were finding it a bit difficult to choose something without being in the store. The online support staff were so incredibly helpful and suggested the perfect thing. They also let the store know that it was a last minute gift and they had it ready for us within a few hours. I couldn't be more pleased with the service we received on our purchase. We needed a ring that Magpie had in stock sized down 2 full sizes, and it was done perfectly. Oh I love the jewelry at Magpie. If I was a person with a larger bank account I would be a regular there, lol.
They carry a lot of unique pieces and many of them are from Canadian designers. They carry the more affordable items of Anne Marie Chagnon, which have an industrial punk vibe (prices start at $30, but do go up to $800) to the pricer Ann Sportun pieces, which feature simple designs with unique twists (prices start at $150 and go up to around $7000). They also make custom designed pieces.
I find this location a bit more intimidating than the one at the Rideau Centre, as it's quieter

I just had my girlfriend's engagement ring custom designed by Magpie.
The experience was amazing - and if I could rate the team at Magpie over 5 stars, I would.
My first contact was by email, where I reached out re: a specific type of grey diamond I was looking for. I worked with Rebekha over emails to bring-in a few stones for an in-person appointment. From there, I made my way into the store - and worked with the team on selecting the right stone, and designing my fiancé's ring.
The time in-store was invaluable - as stones truly come to life in-person [and photos seldom do them justice].
