Clair Downey Service started back in 1951 and, since then, has become a trusted name for automotive repair and maintenance services in Sidney and the Saanich Peninsula. Since 1951, we have been providing our customers with a wide range of auto repair services so that you don't have to look for multiple places for your auto maintenance needs. All of our work is performed by licenced and experienced technicians equipped with the latest tools and technology. All repairs come with a minimum 1-year/20,000 km warranty on new parts and labour.
If you are moving to British Columbia from out of province and require an "out of province inspection", we will do a complete check over of everything safety related on the vehicle in order to get the vehicle registered. Sometimes when you get pulled over with your tail light out (for example), the officer may also issue an inspection order.
Vehicle engines have a lot of moving parts. As these parts move at high speed they create friction and lots of heat. Your oil lubricates the engine, reducing friction and absorbing heat allowing the internal parts to work together effectively without overheating. As the engine runs, oil will break down and get dirty.

Car drives better than before. Noticed brake adjusting, even when not mentioned or charged. Quick service, polite. Will Return for more repairs at this place. Lowered price at end. Car Air system smells, feels, cleaner! not charged or mentioned. Very happy with this. No one else noticed or solved this problem.Very happy with this repair! I suggested this place to my dad after a large Tire chain in Saanichton told him he needed new brakes on the rear of his vehicle. These guys looked at his rear brakes and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with them and they did not charge him for unnecessary repairs I definitely recommend this garage

My 1988 New Yorker developed a fuel leak at the fuel pressure regulator going into the far fuel rail. (I am mechanically inclined but not a mechanic.) I explained what was going to the mechanic on the phone to which I was told we need to look at it, then give you a quote.
When I arrived at the garage I opened the hood went into the office reception and asked the Mechanic desk person to come so I can show him what was wrong.
The guy then saw the drip drip drip from the regulator and said yes I can see it.
I left the vehicle and got a call 40 minutes later quoting me approx.$500

We recently moved to BC from Alberta and needed an out of province inspection done. We booked the appointment with Clair Downey and asked them to add an oil change as well. The service was excellent, done very quickly and the fees were extremely reasonable. A day later we went back to ask about adding a front plate and they offered to put the plates on at no charge! We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the superior service we were given. We will definitely go back to Clair Downey for all our vehicle maintenance.

I have been going to Claire Downey for about 7 years, or more. In the past, I had always been pleased with the service and those extra touches like being dropped off at home. Well, that changed when I needed a couple of valve cover gaskets. This time the cost was outrageous (compared with what the dealer told me), they didn't even clean off all the oil from my manifold, and they used to check the air in your tires. Not any more. Too bad. I'll shop around next time.
