Big Creek Veterinary Hospital
I am Dr. Susan Wilkinson and I'm a 2000 honours graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. I really enjoy new puppy and kitten visits and soft tissue surgery. I also have a special place in my heart for our geriatric patients. My personal menagerie includes 4 dogs, 4 cats and 1 horse.

Bernese Mountain Dogs are a very big part of my life - Syrrah and Rawdny come to work with me every day and we have lots of fun together training and showing in many dog sports (obedience, rally, tracking, drafting, agility and even freestyle dance!) Sennyn & Beckytt the English Cocker Spaniels also comes to work every day and do many of the same dog sports.
Services
We would like to thank you for choosing our hospital and staff to perform surgery on your pet. We take this task very seriously. During surgery and while they're recovering every patient is closely monitored by our veterinary technician, Alexis, as well as state of the art monitoring equipment to ensure patient safety.
Big Creek Veterinary Hospital is equipped to deal with emergency situations. Emergency situations would include difficulties in breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, bloated or distended abdomen, loss of consciousness, seizures, poisoning, heat stroke, or injuries due to trauma. In such cases please do not delay in seeking medical attention.
The right information is your best resource when choosing a food for your pet. Grocery store and pet store employees may have limited information and rely only on the food labels and manufacturer's claims when offering nutrition advice. Your veterinary health care team has the training, resources and knowledge of your pet's health history to make the right nutritional recommendation for your pet's age and lifestyle.
Unfortunately our pets are as likely to become ill or to have an accident as any of our other loved ones, and in some cases more so. From falling down the stairs, to allergies, to car accidents our pets frequently need the expertise of a veterinarian and at that time the last thing we want to think about is money.
Heartworm is a life-threatening disease that can affect a number of mammals, it is primarily seen in dogs. It is transmitted when a mosquito who has bitten an infected dog bites a healthy dog. Some dogs however can be asymptomatic. Heartworm testing is very important and should be done in dogs over 6 months of age.
