Sandy Bay Cottages Hastings, ON

Sandy Bay Cottages is a family oriented resort featuring clean two, three and four bedroom housekeeping units sleeping up to 8 persons. Located near the mouth of the Trent River on the south shore of beautiful Rice Lake, Sandy Bay Cottages offers terrific Weekly Rates. All packages are inclusive of gas BBQ's and free use of paddle boats and Kayaks (kayak accessories for rent).

For the children in the family (big and small) there is a full playground area equipped with swings, slides, climber, merry-go-round and, of course, a lovely sandy beach for swimming. Every Thursday in July and August we have a children's fishing derby in the morning and potluck supper in the evening where all our guests are welcome to share food and friendship.

Cottages Report

For your enjoyment we have included, in the rental package, full use of the playground, fire pit, recreation hall (shuffle board, pool table, card table) (some refundable deposits may be required), laundromat, paddle-boats, kayaks, boat launch ramp, 2 fish cleaning huts and fish freezing. The store can supply you with small groceries, bait, ice and ice-cream.

Rates Report

Extra Person-the number of persons allowed per cottage is either four (2bedrooms), Six (3bedrooms) and Eight (4bedrooms). One extra person may be accommodated at an additional charged of $30 per day/ $130 per week. No exceptions-extra person includes babies and children. Rates also include fish cleaning huts, fish freezing, gas BBQ's for each cottage and more.

I really enjoyed Sandy bay. the beach area is lovely for the kids. would have liked an umbrella for the tables outside to block sun and to sit outside even if it's raining. Wifi signal not good and no TV so pretty boring for the kids at night before bed. Other than that it was very nice.

It would be nice if your check out time is around 10-11. I find 9 was little too early as we were disturbing our neighbors.
Also mattres was not comfortable, my back was killing me. Otherwise all good.

The rating is based on last summer when Esther was able to accommodate me after I cancelled my regularly scheduled booking around the bay at Twin Cedars when I was feeling the pressure to stay home AND realized CAA couldn't get me home should something go wrong. Then I realized something was already seriously wrong and getting worse by my not going to a special place my family has been going to since 1952. So I went fully aware I was physically vulnerable with a CAA membership for which I'd paid full price but would be provided half the service (much less actually, cause I am priceless and my vehicle

The host tries her best to keep this place going. We visit every may 24 weekend and they try their best to accommodate our party.
Work is definitely needed in and out of the resort. Kayaks and other water activities could be updated.

A great place for a family weekend. After we booked the cottage we noticed all the negative reviews this year. This had us really worried about the condition of the cottage. Once we got there we realised a lot of the former problems were fixed. There was NO glass on the beach. The cottage was very clean. There is unfortunately only one boat that works, but since we were the only family there it wasn't an issue. William, the teenager overlooking the site was very helpful, even though he didn't have the answer or solution to some of our requests. The cottages themselves were very clean and well kept
