Services
If there is one thing you can count on from Elora Optometry, it is our vast wealth of experience. Our practice was started 40 years ago by Susan Woodruff, OD, one of our expert optometrists. Corry Schmidt, OD, was brought on 22 years ago and still works with us today alongside our newest optometrist, Laura Groenestge, OD.
One of life's greatest hurdles is simply growing older. With our eyes, this can mean vision can start to blur, or diseases could start developing over time. However, you can take action before your vision starts to deteriorate by going for regular eye exams. Some of the most common conditions patients experience as they grow older include myopia, presbyopia, glaucoma, dry eyes, and even cataracts.
Much like the way your child learns to walk and talk, they also need to learn how to use their eyes. And because they do not have any frame of reference to how their vision is supposed to work, they may not speak up when they are experiencing a problem. Routine eye exam appointments can help you manage the health of your child's eyes as they are growing up and spot issues early enough to prevent permanent damage.
Diabetes, a group of diseases that affect how your body processes sugar, can have a significant impact on your day to day life. Most people have a general idea of how it affects the body, but you may not understand how diabetes can affect your vision in particular. Diabetes increases your chances of developing a variety of eye diseases, including open-angle glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
Contact lenses are becoming increasingly popular with many patients across the country. Developments in eye contact technology have made it so contact lenses are easier to care for, safer to wear, and can offer clearer vision to patients with a wide variety of eye conditions. Elora Optometry is proud to provide this amazing technology to our patients as well as carry a variety of lens types to help give the best vision possible.

I recently took my 87 year old mother to this clinic to get her eyes tested. The customer service at Elora Optometry definitely deserves a 5 star rating and their 'bed-side' manner (especially by Melissa) was exceptional. Thanks to Dr. Schmidt who ultimately attended to her for the actual testing and the nice lady (sorry, name forgotten) who fitted my mother for a new Lens. This practice is 1st. class in my books!
